ISP started new contract without notice

I looked at my Plusnet Broadband account (as it had 5 days of 18 month contract left) and found they've already kicked off a new contract at £22 pm more! No notice, I thought they had to give you some. How do you cancel...ring?
Or re-negotiate? Hate the faff of this.
Any advice?

It's not a new contract. You have been moved onto the rolling monthly deal. As fixed term has ended.
Std for ALL isp's.
Do they not have a contact us page which gives you the various ways to contact them?
Have a look at what the offers they have & take it from there.Life in the slow lane1 -
Leaving it until the expiry day to renegotiate wasnt a good idea either, you usually need to give 30 or so days if you wanted to cancel it.0

Thought I read it was "law" to now give notice by email, post or whatever telling you of change.la531983 said:Leaving it until the expiry day to renegotiate wasnt a good idea either, you usually need to give 30 or so days if you wanted to cancel it.0 -
Tried calling on phone and put on hold 🙄. Doubt you can cancel by email, you never can. This scandal of not being able to cancel online is scandalous, when it's so easy to sign up online. The whole ringing up to negotiate racket has been going on for 30 years or more, probably started by Sky TV.0

Yes, they should have notified you.
Suggest you go through your old emails, look in inbox, spam and deleted for the period around one month before your discounted deal ended.
It could also simply be a one-liner on the bottom of your bill that is easy to miss.1 -
If you're staying on the Openreach network you don't cancel (or even need to call), you just sign up to the new supplier and let them handle it.la531983 said:Leaving it until the expiry day to renegotiate wasnt a good idea either, you usually need to give 30 or so days if you wanted to cancel it.0 -
What are you trying to achieve? A stop of the service or a migration to another Openreach provider?0
-
To achieve not paying almost double what I was paying before. Eventually got through to them, can get £26pm (and faster internet) with no phone line, or £29pm with phone line and same speed. Also was for a 24 month contract, ideally would prefer a 18 month one.littleboo said:What are you trying to achieve? A stop of the service or a migration to another Openreach provider?
Didn't really have an internet speed issue before. So do I need a physical phone line?0 -
If you are still on copper then yes you need a "phone line". What you may not need, and would be paying the extra £3 for, is a landline phone service.

I receive those emails in a timely manner.2
