I'm always amused by people bragging about their Gigabit Virgin connections when they only use a fraction of that and pay double.
£48?Sky is showing the 500 as £33 (it was £32 when I last checked - maybe I need to clear my cookies).
The quote I saw is 18 months.

This is purely because I've found it can play a part with successful email sending. If the IP gets onto a blacklist for no fault of my own, it can have a negative impact on email delivery.
Plusnet is dynamic unless you pay a one off fee for a fixed address, Sky is only dynamic I believe. As mentioned Plusnet on FTTP do not offer a voice service so if you need that then you will need to contract to your own VOIP contract. Sky do offer a voice service.0 -

As my upgrade options give nothing close to that.0

Surely any Internet connection can allow me to make calls on Skype. Although I don't use anything such as Zoom.0 -
The comments around telephony is if you needed a ‘regular’ ISP supplied phone service, one that mimics a traditional landline service, obviously third party VoIP providers can provide telephony, and apps can do similar things , the point about Plusnet is they no longer supply a phone service, so if you require one ( a conventional ‘landline’ type service, delivered by plugging into the ISP supplied router ) then Plusnet don’t offer that anymore0

(both the 500 Mbps deal).0

Down to personal choice then really.0
-
Yep , the minimum speed guarantees are a little pointless , both use Openreach so the ‘connection’ is identical ( and as it’s FTTP it’s at whatever speed you purchase ) the way the regulator/advertising requires average speeds to be used, and as they are nationwide , it means at a local level they are a bit pointless , but as stated it’s a personal choice …I doubt there will be any real noticeable difference.0

The only question I have, when I see mention of superfast/ultrafast broadband is, who actually needs these kinds of speeds?
I would think the vast majority would be easily served with a couple of hundred mbps.0
