Thanks for all the ideas and thoughts. Xylophone especially creative. The decorator struck paint yesterday however and the deal was sealed. Antique lace is now drying. I must say it does look rather yellow toned in the room, however I am rather pleased as its not overwhelming.
I really think this is a fabulous community and am delighted I have discovered it. There aren't many people who have time for you these days, so very much welcome the support.

Thanks you Golden, I tried Antique Cream in my kitchen and like it

Hillarious Rosa, I've kept to magnolia because it's one of only 2 colours that you can touch up and it blends perfectly.
Also I was trying to work out what colours to use so that will save me one job.
But then the new accent colour is supposed to be a mix of orange and red.........

It also makes me chuckle (and I shouldn't) for my ex neighbour who has painted the outside of the house grey and almost everything inside white and grey.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Every time they do up a pub they seem to paint the outside gunmetal grey, so they all look the same.

Visited a garden centre at the weekend and looked at the garden furniture. You could have any colour you like as long as it was grey....

    Try looking for carpet!
For 2yrs entire shops of grey.
Couldn't even get a grey green or such.

Same for bathroom flooring. I finally found something not grey and they went to order it and no longer available.
    I now have beige - again  :#

We wanted to put a new floor in our kitchen. Nothing fancy, just sheet vinyl. Our regular flooring fitter dropped off some sample books. Apart from a few quirky ones . 90% were wood flooring effect, and nearly all various shades of grey.
In the end found a very light brownish parquet design, and everybody who sees it says how much it has lightened the room up. It helps though we do not have a grey kitchen, as it was fitted before grey was the thing.

In a few years time people will be saying how dated grey makes a place look.

Remember bright orange and lime green were a thing?
    Big glass brick walls also.....
I've lived long enough to see it all come and go.
I had a huge hall, stairs, breakfast room and large living room carpeted in brown. My friends were envious, I was so fashionable  :)
And yes, about 5yrs is right.

Some of us have been saying that for a while now :)
