I have been saving money in a jar to pay for us all to go to Harry Potter Studios. I paid that into my bank account yesterday, I finally have enough!!
🙂
A quick Google will give you the latest deals.
It's not a cheap day out, so any savings will be a bonus (and means you'll have more to spend on souvenirs!)
Another good tip is to compare the prices in the gift shop with buying from online stores. Some items are much cheaper in the gift shops, whereas some are much more expensive.
People who've been say it is fantastic, hope you have a great time 😊

NSD on Saturday.
Went to a Repair/Reuse event in the community centre. It's a fantastic community project that encourages repairing, reusing, repurposing and recycling before sending items to landfill.
I took along a faulty electric hot plate for repair but it was found to have a burnt-out heating element and was beyond help. Some little kids- the electricians' kids- had a great time taking it apart to salvage all the components and recyclable metal! The plug was re-used on an old iron someone had bought in after someone had left it too close to a gas ring.
I left a bag of glass jars for the lady who makes her own jam and chutney, a few books, some unwanted promotion water bottles and some toiletries I'd been gifted that aren't vegan. Hopefully someone can make use of them.
I left with some random pieces of left-over wallpaper I am going to use to cover some note books for a fundraiser at my reading group. The designs are really lovely- arty drawings of wild flowers, hares in a woodland, peacock feathers etc. I'll post pics when I've done them.
A bit of a spend at the Refill shop- lentils, mixed beans, cleaning products etc but I include that in my Essential Household Groceries budget.
Picked up a book I'd ordered from the library. It's the book we're going to be discussing at the next Reading Group meeting. Besides saving me £12.99, it means I'm not tempted to pop into Waterstones... (those who know me will know my addiction to book buying!)
A productive day, with no Unnecessary Spending 😊

NSD on Sunday.
Loads of laundry done, had a relaxing day batch-cooking.
My partner came home with about 10kg of button mushrooms from Waste Warriors, a group that collects unwanted food items from shops, farms, distributors and businesses that would otherwise end up in landfill. He said there must have been about 1000kg mushrooms in the warehouse that had to be "disposed of" before the end of the day.
Luckily, after a post on Facebook all the items in the warehouse- eggs, mushrooms, bananas, bread, bunches of flowers, yogurt- were "rescued" and will not end up as food waste.
Prepped the mushrooms for the freezer, baked a load of banana cake and cookies, a couple of batches of Rocky Road and a big pan of mushroom soup to be portioned up and frozen in individual pouches for work.
The flowers he "bought" me look lovely in their little vase. I don't know what they are- they'd lost their label, that's why they were discarded by M&S- but they look like yellow cornflowers. A little ray of sunshine, given a chance to share their happy joyfullness rather than end up in landfill ❤️ I may press some of them.
All done, I settled down with a pot of tea, a slice of cake and a good book 😁2 -
Happy Monday!
I used to love frivolous shopping, but the "high" I used to get from Retail Therapy can not compare with the "Happy Happy Joy Joy" I'm experiencing right now after transferring the money I've not spent this month from my current account into my Holiday Fund account 😎
Admittedly, it's not a fortune but it's a lot for me!
Proof that replacing all the mindless spends, the "It's only a pound!" and random purchases with careful planning and considered buying can quickly add up to major savings.
For instance, my partner could easily have spent £15 a day on take-out coffee and "grabbing lunch from the sandwich shop". Instead, he's taken his travel cup of coffee (he'll refill it later at work, they have a fancy coffee machine) and a packed lunch, including the obligatory choc-chip cookie!
Worked out that it cost about £1.20 to make the packed lunch.

One NSD for Saturday, one for Sunday and one for today. Tomorrow I will be at the airport so it will end up to be a spend day, so this is going to be my last entry for April!
Can I put 17 down for May? Since I have a couple of days off at the beginning of the month I don't think I can aim any higher than this!
