Thursday- NSD 😊
Today (Friday)- my day off, so headed out for the day.
My son is- hopefully 🤞- heading off to university later this year, so we've started buying items he'll need for his own place.
My council have a fantastic "Reuse" scheme where people can take their unwanted but perfectly useful items to a container at their local skip site, knowing the items will be taken to a big warehouse and sold for bargain prices for anyone that can make us them.
Bought a complete dinner service- 8 bowls, dinner plates, side plates and cups for just £2. On getting home we discovered they are Royal Worcester "Serenity" range, and a 16 piece set (4 of each item) sells for about £100, the cheapest place being B&Q, of all places.
So our box-full would cost about £200 😯
And it's all new, still has the original packaging padding between each item.
I've decided that I'm going to keep the Royal Worcester stuff and he can take the basic IKEA stuff we've had for years!
Also:
A large wheelie suitcase to replace the one whose wheel got damaged beyond repair after our last holiday- £3
Board Game- Poetry for Neanderthals for £2. My daughter "borrowed" the one we had for her weekly Games Night with her friends and I know I'll never get it back.
A few items of clothing from M&S- looks like a "corporate donation" as they were on the "NEW" rail still have original tags on- £5. Includes a fabulous floaty summer top for me, a pair of fleecy pyjamas for me and some socks and t-shirt for the lad.
A large framed picture for 50p. The picture is a truly ghastly, but I bought it for the frame.
Definitely not a NSD, but delighted with our purchases 😁
The list of items he wants/needs for Uni is mad, so any bargains we can get are a real bonus.
Having said that, I know a trip to IKEA is almost inevitable.

@cathybird
I usually access from desktop if I need to write and put updates as I don't particularly like the mobile version! If I only intend to quickly read through updates then I do check on mobile.
