Well back from a weekend of fine dining and drinking plus lots of walking and castle wall appreciation. The only money saving was walking the 90mins to the airport yesterday rather than spending 5€ on the bus each 🤣.
Today will be necessary grocery shop only and back to reality of ordinary food!
So early claim for NSD 4/15
@keggie sounds like an absolutely wonderful weekend! xx :)

Day 7 today: found an item I wanted but can't fit a delivery date and time into this week's schedule... it can stay in their warehouse for a bit  :D

Definitely NOT today - collected and paid off my ‘new to me’ car (old car had longstanding, undiagnosable electronic fault and was getting scary to use).

My last car, like your previous one, developed mysterious electronic faults. It got to the point where I was scared to venture too far from home or public areas in case it let me down again. It was costing me a fortune in money and lost time every time it went in for diagnostics and repair.

In the end, I got rid of it.

Best thing I ever did! I've been car-free for 4 years now and love the freedom. Use can walk or cycle to the town centre for the shops and leisure activities, and public transport- trains and buses- and hire vehicles as and when (removal van, 4x4 for camping trips, luxury open-topped sports car for a friend's wedding etc)

Car ownership does not offer the freedom it used to.
By the time you've factored in all the costs, the time spent sat in traffic jams (usually when you or the kids are desperate for the loo or ravenously hungry!) and the hassles associated with navigating across the city's one-way systems, bus-only lanes etc, I often wonder why anyone would choose to drive if there is a decent public transport system
Sadly there is no public transport going in any useful direction here and I live at least 2 miles from a bus route ….

  • Another NSD for me today.

Date night tonight. Before starting on this No Unnecessary Spending Year we'd probably have headed out to a fancy restaurant, gone to see a show or the latest film at the cinema followed by cocktails or real ale in some pub somewhere ....and think nothing of spending upwards of £100.

Instead, we're going to stay in with a bottle of M&S wine we won in a raffle, I've got a cottage pie in the oven and we're going to watch a film (don't knkw what yet, I'll see what's on the Film 4 or catch-up apps)

I'm sat here eating a lonely bucket of chocolate and orange mini bites having spent money to buy them, and not being able to rack up a NS day. Sad but true 😒there was as time when I enjoyed them, not these bad boys mwah!
