Fraud on a card I have never used - Barclaycard

Hello,
Woke up this morning to repeated calls and texts from Barclaycard as they have blocked a transaction of £2300 on my card and they wanted to confirm this was me.
Explained it wasn't, no money had gone from my account, and organised my replacement card.
My question is however, as Barclays couldn't answer, is How did they get my details to attempt this purchase?
I have never, used this card. When I say never, It has been a Balance Transfer offer, that has been fully paid off and never left the house, never seen a website or a shop. I access the Barclays app on my iPhone that's up to date.
My assumption is they have used a random generator, attempted the transaction not had name/Last 3/ address right causing Barclays to block this. Luckily no money has been moved.
The attempt was at a company called "KSHOP MISC." - to help anyone else who may be searching this company.

I think it's more likely that Bcard wouldn't tell you how the scammer got your details rather than simply couldn't. I'm sure they have lots of ideas but don't want to confirm anything that ultimately might make it look their fault.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. They told me, they will investigate and get the results in the next 3 weeks, however they won't discuss that with me...
Interestingly I am speaking to a friend who had the exact same thing happen, with a Barclaycard that they have never used before.0 -
Obviously it could create a panic with customers if they confirm their systems have been hacked, staff let loose some info, someone had figured out how to randomly access things as you suggested. Lots of fraud cases would be raised and lots of potential new customers put off.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. I assume you know for sure it was really Barclays calling/texting you? Did you end up calling them directly yourself rather than simply answering one of their calls?
I know from experience that scammers can spoof calls and messages...0 -
It happens. I had an attempted payment to a gambling retailer on a 2 year old Nationwide debit card which had never been used and I think was still stuck to the paper it came on, in the dreaded drawer of things.Don't expect to hear anything useful back, but you should know even if the charge is authorised you're not on the hook for it when you report it; which is a good reason why it's important to pay atttention to statements/online banking (even for cards/accounts not in use!).0

Please also remember many banking apps allow you to freeze your cards or at least block certain types of transactions0

Last year my Bcard was used fraudulently so they stopped the card and issued a new one. But then the new one was also used fraudulently before I'd even received it!!!

A few years back I had one on a Halifax card that I'd not used for over a year. Card was sitting at back of drawer. Rang bank & they were great in refunding etc. Said fraudsters use complex algorithms to generate multie card details, and hope they get lucky0
