Fraud on a card I have never used - Barclaycard
Comments
-
I've had two instances of card fraud in my life, which I think is pretty good going considering the number of cards (credit and debit) I typically hold at any one time! Actually three instances if you count attempted fraud that was blocked thanks to the card being frozen via the app.
In all cases, the cards were either never or rarely-used, and never left my house. Touch wood, I've never had fraud on any of the cards I use routinely, which I'd have thought would be the most vulnerable. Weird isn't it.

So your card has left the house, on your iPhone....2319WeHaveA2319 said:and never left the house, never seen a website or a shop. I access the Barclays app on my iPhone that's up to date.

The same thing happened to me at the beginning of 2003. I signed up for a Student Barclaycard at a stall at my uni at the end of 2002. When I didn't hear anything at all from Barclaycard after about a month I called them only to be told there was no trace of my application. A couple of weeks later I received a call from Barclaycard's fraud team about suspicious activity. They had finally got round to processing my paper form, sent the card out and then it had been intercepted in the post.pudsey76 said:Last year my Bcard was used fraudulently so they stopped the card and issued a new one. But then the new one was also used fraudulently before I'd even received it!!!1 -
I had this happen as well with a Lloyds debit card. I had never used the card, in fact it was sitting in my file still attached to the letter they sent it to me in. Silly me forgot to freeze it in the app when it arrived. I at least had transaction alerts set up so the app notified me when it was used, and I then immediately froze the card. Was easy enough to get the transaction refunded, but I did never find out how the card details were obtained in the first place.0

How strange that this is happening to so many people. It must be an algorithm that have that they can try and work the system.
The comment above, I have never used the card, never activated it on my phone wallet, it was left inside the house with the only access to me being via the app. Sure they have not been able to make a card transaction because I logged into the app on my iPhone.0
