Why do I see so many rubbish cars with very exclusive number plates?

Some people like personalised plates and place a value on them, personally I think they are tacky, so I do not waste my money on them, those who like them can choose to spend their money on them, that benefits us all as it is effectively a tax.

I do however think that owners of non-compliant vanity plates should be penalised with six points and a substantial fine to deter those who deliberately alter plates or fit non-compliant plates.
You sound a merry, let live and be happy soul!
The plates are often done deliberately to stop ANPR checks (like the old "plate just fell off" line for people who dive around with it on their dashboard permanently) and it's illegal. I too would 100% support on the spot fines and police to pull over for more checks. Mis-reading plates can also cause other people to get fines etc e.g. if you owned say

    BBB 813

and used a dot to make it say BOB813

Then the owner of BOB813 gets your tickets

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

They have the right to use the registration, so they can put it on any car.

If I had PEN 15  (which doesn't return a trace- I'm sure it was valid a while back) It would go straight on my crappy old car!

One I've  actually seen is BJ69 KFC which is driving around on a fiat 500, probably that it was issued to, what a mistake-a-to-make-a by the DVLA, it is definitely worth more than the car now...
DVLA block plenty of letter combinations, BL0x JOB is for example - BJ and 69 while maybe they are obvious aren't really as direct - there are potentially hundreds of BJ69 xxxx plates

My old kia has a personal plate, it was on it when I bought it. No idea why it wasn't taken off when it was sold.
So why don't you take it off, sell it several thousand and get a nicer car?
    Why?

What “nice” car do you drive

    Is it a Yaris ?
