Why do I see so many rubbish cars with very exclusive number plates?

    One round by us:

    P55 OFF

how on earth the DVLA allowed that, I have no idea

Also spotted this little gem -

  • Sometimes a fancy plate is "inherited" and it's a nice memory to keep within the family. Often there's a story like grandad arrived in UK with £1 and did so well he bought a Bentley with a personalised plate.

My favourite was a couple of theatre directors who had two cars parked outside their house:
    "2 BE" and "NOT 2BE"

    Personal plates are relatively cheap.

Some people like them on their cars.

    Not really seeing an issue.

Some people like personalised plates and place a value on them, personally I think they are tacky, so I do not waste my money on them, those who like them can choose to spend their money on them, that benefits us all as it is effectively a tax.

I do however think that owners of non-compliant vanity plates should be penalised with six points and a substantial fine to deter those who deliberately alter plates or fit non-compliant plates.
  • My old kia has a personal plate, it was on it when I bought it. No idea why it wasn't taken off when it was sold.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Why on earth does it worry or even concern you? Are you saying only certain people with certain cars should have them? Its personal choice. My car is nearly 8 years old and I have a personal number plate because I liked the idea of something unique. Referring to someone's car as 'cheap, crappy' comes across as rather unpleasant and entitled.
'I liked the idea of something unique'

All number plates in the UK are unique

Ok a bit different then! Oh where would the world be without the pendant!
Yes, they are always hanging around.🤣
