That's an interesting development.Many hotels etc. use desalinated water, so I suspect the vast majority of diners will continue to order bottled water at meals, as is the tradition and culture.In my earliest days of holidaying the Spain the hotel had potable water brought in by tanker two or three times weekly.0

I stayed in 2008 where the charge for a small bottle of water at dinner felt excessive and we obviously weren't the only people who thought so. The hotel said they didn't sell large bottles but when they set a table for a conference with large bottles there was uproar!
Apologies for going off topic, however not everywhere gives free water. Even in the UK where it's usually covered by the alcohol licence if there is no alcohol sold so no licence then charges can be made for water1
