I got all my council tax paid when I had a total knee replacement. They normally don’t do this until you reach retirement age, I was 58. I then claimed ESA, this was before UC existed, and they gave people just enough to live on, a single person couldn’t afford to eat, pay utilities and council tax. The DWP told me I could stay on ESA until I retired (nice of them
) and mid Devon Council happily paid all the council tax.
