    okay how to certify?
Per the government guidance I would suggest, that way it shouldn't cause any complaints by them

    https://www.gov.uk/certifying-a-document

    Who can certify a document

Your document must be certified by a professional person or someone well-respected in your community (‘of good standing’). You could ask the following if they offer this service:

    • bank or building society official
    • councillor
    • minister of religion
    • dentist
    • chartered accountant
    • solicitor or notary
    • teacher or lecturer

The person you ask should not be:

    • related to you
    • living at the same address
    • in a relationship with you
Pain for me would be I can get a solicitor without lifting a finger except for the fact I'm dating her lol. Can probably get it done easily enough though
So stop dating then start dating again after you get the account?🤔😏😁
Ah for sure but solicitors have colleagues who can do it, it's like when they buy houses, lenders frown on them doing their own conveyancing so tend to ask a colleague to do it in exchange for a bottle of wine. Bit a of a risk to their registration with the SRA if they lie about stuff like this so it's safer not to pretend

As it happens I just got the link from Ulster to do the ID check online so all good for me, driving licence and usual terrible selfie submitted

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The staff at my local NatWest branch were happy to certify documents for my Ulster bank application free of charge. Otherwise, the Post Office is usually the easiest, although it does cost money.

There is only 1 Ulster Bank these days, although for some reason there's still 2 Ulster Bank apps.

Ulster Bank or Ulster Bank NI should bring up the correct site.

Basically you don't want Ulster Bank ROI.

Ulster Bank have exited the ROI market, but some accounts are still in the process of being closed so the ROI app is still available.
