Those kWh estimates are weird. The gas is not too much over the average, but the leccy is off the scale. In a house with gas CH and DHW, your leccy usage should be maybe 25-33% of your gas usage.
Is that how you heat and hot water? Contact your supplier with some sensible estimates that reflect a full year and not just autumn/winter. Your DD should come down dramatically.
By choosing cash payment upon bill, you are limiting your tariff choice and paying a non-DD surcharge.
2 years into the COL crisis, it is very depressing that people still think the price cap is an 'all you can eat' limit.

You can blame shoddy reporting in mainstream media for that, rather than the people who are simply believing the impression they are given!

Thanks for the replies , i guess im more concerned that i am being over charged and that the estimates suggest i will be a high end user, I rung them up today after i got the message to say that i owed about £500 its annoying to find that this message was sent about an hour or two after i had given today's reading but it didn't take into account the reading i had given.  It seems that my last months bill is around £250 now. but its experiences like this that put me off direct debit i.e they would have just taken out the £500
It also seems to take them over a week to post me out the bill which they blame on royal mail. The person i spoke to said the estimate i get on the bill is the estimate they work on, they have been given all my readings  though

That's why I have the tag "never pay on an estimated bill"   Never been with Eon - do they send you an email requesting a reading from you ?  I'm with EDF for gas and have a Monthly Variable DD -  they request a reading, I send it, EDF bill bill on that actual reading. MVDD is not for everyone as you get big winter bills but it suits me.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

If it is anything like my council, they send the letters out digitally to a company that prints them out before sticking the paperwork in an envelope. The letters are then collated, and passed on to Royal Mail via a Down Stream Access agreement for the final mile delivery - With all the delays and fingers in the pie, it can take over a week for anything to finally hit your doormat. Royal Mail themselves, will usually take a day or two between receiving the letters and shoving them through your door.

Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

You can email eon and they tend to be quite helpful. We have had some weirdness with my son’s estimated gas usage when he didn’t send a reading in because he was away. I put the new reading in when my son got home and then emailed and asked for a revised bill and to have the direct debit reduced.

We do the same. We input a meter reading on the supplier's website on the first of each month and we are instantly told what the cost is for the month and then it is taken by DD on the 17th. That way they never have to work on an estimate and we are never in credit or owe them anything either, which is how we like it.
