How was your Xmas pudding?

Ours was from Selfridges and we thought it was rather crummy, literally too.
It felt too heavy on the stomach afterwards in a different way than usual.
Rare that Xmas pudding is an actual disappointment.

A couple of years back 'Which?' gave Tescos as the best Xmas pudding. We had that for two years and were not disappointed. Another one from previous years we remember as good was from Liberty's.

Anyone else had theirs from Selfridges and any other particularly good or bad ones?

  • We had Tescos and it was good.Just finnished it off today
  • We had a Lidl one this year (yes I know) but found it had too many nuts in, making us pick them out. Back to the usual Tesco one for us next year.
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)
  • Fabulous - seeing this thread reminded me that I DIDN'T have my Christmas pudding this year. It's still in the drawer compartment of the fridge. Guess what's for desert tonight when DH leaves for work? YUM!

Fantastic (but not very modest of me to say so) as it was one of mine! It was 2 years old and has been fed for the past two years with some brandy so was a little alcoholic  . The final two from this batch will be used next year, so this year I will make another 3 years worth :D

Excellent - it was a waitrose one brought half price Dec 2006. SBD was not until April 2008 and it was all the better for sitting in a cold cupboard for a year. Just tried to get one for next year but they didn't have any.

Mum and dad splashed out on a Harrods one this year which was nice, but tbh not any nicer than the Tesco one we usually have!

We had Tesco's finest and it was fantastic. Highly recommend it for next year.
  • Ours was delicious, but then that was because I made it myself -measure out a load of ingredients, stir, leave overnight, pile in a basin, steam for most of the day, wrap well, reheat on Christmas day -piece of[strike] cake[/strike]pudding. I can't see why anyone would want to buy one

Sadly we are yet to have ours yet!!

We left all the puddings at my parents after we had a family stir up Sunday and we were meant to collect it this weekend and half the family were sick so we didn't get to go there!

I have it on good authority that it was the bestest! So I was glad of the compliments but sad we didn't get to have one!

I remember the Which article saying some upmarket names like that were not a better product than Tescos.
