    Afternoon All.
We live in a Park Home manufactured by a company called Tingdene.  We have been having problems for over a year with the outside of our home.  Tingdene accepted responsibility and told us that they would replace and repair the damagned walls this year some time.  When we chased them on Friday for an update we found out that the company had gone into liquidation in December!  Where do we stand as we cannot afford to do the massive repairs ourselves - Thank you for your help.
Who did you buy the home from? Was it bought new or secondhand?

It appears that Tingdene is a series of companies forming a Group, the group is fine, it's just one entity that is in liquidation... have you selected the right entity? How did you find out its in liquidation?

It is the park home manufacturing side that has gone into liquidation, reported in local press and park home magazines
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Exactly, so if they bought new from the retail arm their claim against the retailer under the Consumer Rights Act would still stand and be unimpacted by the manufacturer going under.

As an update we have been told to claim off of the 10 year warranty we have on the house.  We have just phoned them and they have said "the problem is not covered in the warranty as it is not structural.  The outside walls are not classed as structural because the walls can be removed and have no impact on the building and therefore is not structural.  WHAT!  I'm sure if they took all the walls off of our Park Home it would collapse!  by the way the problem affects all four outside walls of our house.  HELP!

Until you tell us the EXACT NAME of the company that you purchased your home and/or warranty from then I'm not sure anyone can help...

We brought the house through Turner's Parks who purchased it from Tingdene and the warranty is through Platinum Seal.

Tingdene seem to say that the external walls of their homes are constructed like this:
    • A timber frame
    • Plasterboard fixed to the indoor side of the timer frame
    • Cladding fixed to the outdoor side of the timber frame
Is it just the external cladding that's damaged (and not the timber frame)?

If so, I suspect that the structural warranty providers are saying that the timber frame is the "structural" part - and not the cladding. (And so you could remove the cladding without affecting the structural integrity of the building.)

But if you see below, Tingdene suggest that it is the combination of the Timber Frame plus the plasterboard and cladding that create a "sturdy shell".

Which suggests that the cladding is structural (i.e. it adds structural strength). The home would not be structurally sound without it. So I guess this could develop into a big argument.

    Here's what Tingdene say...
Exterior walls are put into place to form the main structure of the home. A frame is created using timber studs. This is combined with interior walls made from plasterboard and external cladding to create a sturdy shell. The upright joist spaces are filled with insulation.

I can't find any details on companies house for any of those EXACT NAMES so I don't see how anyone can help you further.
The only other suggestion is that you post a photo/scan of your invoice/receipt (hide your name and address) in case that shows the registered company number or some other details of the legal entity that you purchased the home from.
