The heating can go off right?

Do you live on your own and only have to please your own temperature?FlorayG said:My central heating is set for a constant 14 degrees and has only been on a few mornings this winter. I have passive heating from a south facing conservatory and a small logburner I light after dark but this week I haven't lit it. So yeah, it's much warmer now. I'm not a person that feels the cold much though, being outdoors most of the day
As a person that feels the cold and chilblains I am no good at all with cold and so the family have to put up with a bit of warmth. I don't turn off our heating historically til mid to late April and keep an eye on the weather before doing so1 -
It's going colder again at the weekend so the storage heaters might well need to be turned up a bit on Friday1

I live in a modern, well insulated flat so I am lucky with regards to heating, I also have neighbours above and below which no doubt helps, although I am exposed on two sides and most of those sides has multiple large, full height windows. With this winter being very mild I have only put the heating on twice and the temperature has not dropped below 16.5c and now for example it is 18.6c. That being said I do cook using the oven most days so that adds heat and often cook more at weekends when I am home more, especially when having people visit (I somehow seem to end up cooking a roast most Sundays for family).
I notice that I feel the cold in different ways since I got fit and stopped being fat. Not having four stone of insulation does make me feel the cold slightly more when not moving for a period of time, in hot weather I also rarely feel too hot now which is good. I also have considerably more muscle so it is much easier to warm up, a mild bit of quick exercise (five minutes jogging on the spot, on the exercise bike, a dozen or so burpees etc.) warms me up but does not cause me to sweat so if I feel myself getting a bit colder whilst sat on the sofa doing nothing then that can be a healthy and free way to keep warm.2 -
Nope. We be burning (gas), still. Someone's got to support the industry.
I prefer an internal temperature above 70, which means the heating still needs to be on.0 -
I got so into my thermometers over last couple of years that i can almost can tell what the temperature is in main living room. For example i know for sure when it is below 14 degrees. Today came home from work temp was 16 degrees. I knew it was that. So as normal turned gas combi thermostat to my normal to go for at 19 degrees. But i'd actually set it to 18 degrees by mistake and 2 hours later sat on sofa i knew it as was feeling slightly chilly. Up to 19 degrees now and much more comfortable to watch tv. Amazing that one degree difference.2

It’s all relative isn’t it? One person’s hot is another’s cold.1

Definitely is and others have posted in other comments above on the differences between us all . If I wasn't moving around house during the TV adverts I'd need 21 degrees.
So my heating is staying on for now.0 -
As a lady of a certain age I don't need the heating on but my partner needs the evening open plan lounge/diner warmed up. We are now down to 2 hours.0
