Yes. May can draw in a north easterly wind.
But turning off heating depends on what temperature any ones main living room is.
My main room this week has been 15 degrees in morning so i put thermostat on to get 19 degrees plus.
Putting on a fire is a little bit cheating. (joking)

Ours is on the thermostat but it's not coming on so much now.

I've managed to convince Mum to turn her heating down, it was sub tropical earlier this week! She always says she won't go cold whilst she's got money in the bank. But I've never known her house as hot as its been this winter
Not uncommon for people to feel the cold a lot more as they get older. It’s also been a very damp winter (where we are at least) and that always seems to make it feel colder, to me.

Leaving ours on the thermostat might possibly be the reason for the ridiculous vampire load of the ASHP in summer so we will have to turn it off and see if that makes a difference.  It's not been working very hard in the evenings any more, but I don't know what the mornings are like.  Plus, last year we had a relatively cold snap in June that took us by surprise and we were grateful for the heating!  So I don't know.  Maybe I'll just have to keep an eye on the weather.

We've only had proper heating for 4½ years so we know very well what it's like to be cold, and yes we survived but we have no desire to go back to that while we can afford not to because it was miserable.

We have had the central heating off here in south Wiltshire these last few days, but still putting the log burner on at night.  Lighting it is moving back to around 7pm....  The dog demands it :).
It also has the benefit of warming up all the fireplace bricks which continue to release heat throughout the night and into the morning so the living room is still about 18-19 degrees for a good part of the day until the sun moves round to the back of the house.  On days with no sun the central heating might need to go on for a little while.

Looking forward to April when it can, hopefully, all go off........not sure how I am going to tell the dog though!
  • We are definitely getting close! We have had a couple of no heating days recently (including today!)
  • Still on 24/7, set at a temperature it never reaches so it stays on, running via weather compensation.
Still working out around 1/3rd cheaper than the oil it replaced.
We will look at it again over the next wee while.

Yes we've had a huge amount of rain here, it feels like it's rained since December! I've always felt the cold, but my Mum's was stifling this week, she thought we were talking daft when 3 of us (including my Dad) said it was too hot.
