Can you not download a bank statement?
Nobody here can tell you why it is needed. Only those who sent the request can tell you why. A polite request might get you an answer.
Have you contacted them and explained that you were not aware of the previous request( lack of response to that is why the time limit has been put on) and arranged for an extension of the time?

I think it's silly and ridiculous too - but probably not in the same way you do...b2k78 said:
... It's just ridiculous, it's a silly issue and can be easily rectified but it's really got me angry
Why don't you just 'phone or email them and ask what the issue is?
Have you checked your emails yet to see if you did receive one from them in December?
Have you actually read and understood all the T&Cs of your purchase?5 -

Nobody here knows the terms & conditions of purchase and legally, they probably can ask for this anyway.1 -
Could there be any doubt in Butlins mind about your residential status ? Presumably there’s conditions in your agreement about proving your status when asked ?Given Panorama and spot checks by planning authorities it’s not to be unexpected and if you choose to be uncooperative the relationship is only likely to go one way - and in the current market you don’t hold many cards0

You can make a complaint. But they can easily say we require the info. As this is in relation to a purchase such as this. There will be compliance involved.b2k78 said:
It's the principle of it, its nothing to do with compliance. I want to know where I stand so i can make a complaint to head office regarding the issue... if I bought a house and a year later I was threatened with having the electric, waste and water removed if i didn't give them something that was apparently required upon purchase, there is something wrong in my opinionBoGoF said:Is there a particular reason you don't want to comply with this request. You say the ID you provided at the time has turned out not to be acceptable. What form of ID was it?
Personally, I think you are making a mountain out a molehill.
I would liken this to the know your customer that banks have to do. Which failure to comply will lead to restrictions & ultimately closure of account if not complied with.
What harm is it to comply with the request? They can not do anything with the info.Life in the slow lane0 -

I get that, but Is the principle worth all the cost to you?Okell said:

End of the day, if they want it, you will have to comply & pay up, or sell up. That's if they would let you sell 🤷♀️Life in the slow lane0 -
My heart always sinks when someone says they are acting 'out of the principle of the thing'.2

That was me. Not the OP...born_again said:
