I appreciate it's frustrating but if it's easy to get the ID to them, just do it, and that should be the end of it. Sure, ask them why, and see if you can get some freebies out of them while you're at it.

Is there a particular reason you don't want to comply with this request. You say the ID you provided at the time has turned out not to be acceptable. What form of ID was it?

Driving licence, letters, official court letters, passport (I think), loads of stuff tbh. How can I sign a contract or how can it be valid if there was any uncertainty by either party at the time of signing? It's the principle of it, its nothing to do with compliance. I want to know where I stand so i can make a complaint to head office regarding the issue... if I bought a house and a year later I was threatened with having the electric, waste and water removed if i didn't give them something that was apparently required upon purchase, there is something wrong in my opinionBoGoF said:Is there a particular reason you don't want to comply with this request. I'm assuming that some annual audit process has picked up on an anomaly with what had originally been provided versus what they ought to have asked for, so imagine that someone within a sales team has failed to tick all the right compliance boxes - the seven day ultimatum does seem a bit harsh but the principle of rectifying an issue seems valid, now that it's been spotted, even if it was ultimately their fault for not following a defined process correctly.b2k78 said:

My main issues are - can they lawfully make demands of me? Can they lawfully hold my property to ransom? Am I under any obligation to take what will amount to half a day from work to drive 50 mins to the nearest town with my bank, pay for parking, walk half a mile to the bank, then do the same to get home again... are they going to pay for my time?eskbanker said:

I just want to have some relevant information to go into my complaint regarding the actual contractual obligation I am under to comply with their demands.
It may well seem petty but if the shoe was on their foot I bet they would tell me where to stick it!0 -
I think they can lawfully ask you to do it, yes. The alternative appears to be a lot of further hassle for them (and presumably you). No harm in asking for a goodwill gesture in return for your trouble, assuming this is their error.b2k78 said:

If you find that you did indeed miss earlier correspondence about it, they may have less sympathy because you could have rectified this at less inconvenience at any point in the last few months.
You could of course say no, and see what happens.1 -

Are they accepting that you provided all the ID they'd originally asked for, or are they (belatedly) asserting that something you provided wasn't compliant?0
