Zing app can take payment from contactless debit cards

Just stumbled across this while exploring the Zing Android app. You can top up the Zing balance from a contactless debit card by tapping the card on the back of the phone (and selecting an amount). I don't think I've ever seen this in a "banking" app before.
Has to be a debit card in your name, but this seems a small step from taking payments from others.
I'm not sure it is that useful for now, but I still find it interesting.

Interesting, thank you! Sounds similar to Revolut's top up. Any fees? Any delays in being able to access the funds?
Could be useful for TSB/Halifax Reward. Presume it'll go through on an MCC which stops it being 'useful' for much else.2 -
Ah - did not know about Revolut's top up, so maybe not that novel after all.
Payment is immediate, and no fees. £10 minimum. Shows on the other end as "Zing top up" so I assume not generally 'useful'.

It's working like greased lightning with Chase debit card deposits, and withdrawal to another UK current account. All free of charge but no Chase cashback, as was half expected.

tried a referral link for zing earlier, has a good offer going. (Top up by £5 get £20 in 30 days) However it wont send me an OTP text at all so stuck until support responds 🙄
