Ha, I'll look out for you! 😂
Boring drive in this morning - Mr Cheery was napping in the passenger seat so no singing for me! 😂
Unexpected payment should be arriving tomorrow. I signed up to the Author's Licensing and Collections Service, which collects royalties due when eg people photocopy academic papers and magazine articles. Didnt actually expect I'd get anything, I'm not exactly famous 😂😂 But had an email yesterday saying they were paying me £137.47!
I only signed up last year so I think this might be a couple of year's back pay so I won't plan my retirement any time soon 😂😂10 -
My mum had that when she was working (and actually, presumably it continues) - not a lot but a nice little bonus! Enjoy!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Well done Cheery, do you have any professional costs that this could offset? Or is it going in to the cafe fund?Fashion on a ration 2024 66/66 coupons remaining

Afternoon chums! Just in a lunch break during an all day zoom meeting. Can't complain - this is a couple of times a year, and is always the most excellently chaired and organised meeting I've ever been to 😂 Long day though, and have other work after it that needs to be done before tomorrow 🙄
Anyway, ALCS money has arrived in the bank, so that's been added to my monthly total 😊 And there's another bank switch available!! 😱 The one I'm currently going through is a relatively quick one - the switch has happened, just need to get the money transferred in and leave for 24 hours, and then await the bonus (supposedly within 7 days). Then I can initiate the next round of switching!
Slightly annoying having to leave the TSB one longer, although the incentive itself is due on 29th I think, but because there's extra money from TCB I've got to leave them open til June. Slightly annoying, but worth it if the cashback works, and at least I do have an extra one to switch now!
Another few 1P surveys done today, up to £17.20 I think now. Trying to get to payout before the end of the month but I've been saying that for the last couple of months and keep taking my eye off the ball...5 -
Now I was wondering why you'd gone quiet - and here we are! I am indeed now subscribed and will once again enjoy reading about all your adventures (and cake!)
You know that the Octopoints have value you can take against your energy bill as well? I've vaguely got in mind that we might use ours for an NT pass for us if there is somewhere we want to go at a point when no freebies are available, but otherwise I'll just take the win in a small saving! Currently the only "experience" offers are the NT/NT for Scotland, and the cinema - although I did nab a couple of Greggs sausage rolls while those were on the go, and sometimes have a hot drink for free as well...
You've reminded me on 1P as well - I must go and take a look and see what's there for me!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Long week, but actually a productive and pretty satisfying one. Tired now, but it's the weekend, hooray! 😃😃
Mr Cheery's friend had a heart attack yesterday. He's in hospital, had a couple of stents fitted and is doing OK, should be out over the weekend. Yet another reminder to us to focus even more on our health. We headed out for an hour's walk this evening, did us good.
Anyway, Mr Cheery is occupied over the next few days with various tasks, so I have a nice weekend to potter about. Some things for the list...
* get all that ivy to the tip
* clear the last of the cut grass from the field into the garden
* sort out the unopened post!!
* pay small bill
* more paperwork sorting
* finish Mr Cheery's hat
* sit down and finish making video
* get some washing done
* hoover everywhere
* take the darn Christmas tree down!! 😱😂🙈
* sort nephew's birthday
* get my bike out and consider a ride...
* book swimming
* couple of decent sized walks
That'll do. I'll do a plan for each day as they arrive 😊9 -
OK, a plan for Friday! 😊
MORNING
* load tonne bags of ivy into the car (can I fit two of them into a 3 door Yaris?? I guess we'll find out! 😂)
* solo cafe trip for plotting and scheming and reading a new book 😊😊
* ivy to the tip
* nip to zero waste shop in town - something I used to do very often, but their opening times are slightly odd and I often miss them, and they're not in an area of town I usually walk through, but these are all excuses and we are generating too much plastic, so I'm going to make an effort.
AFTERNOON
* shift rest of cut hay from field to windbreak area. The curlews are back, so no more cutting for me - what's not cut will have to wait for the end of summer.
* more work in the front garden - might build myself a little bench from some pallets for the little terrace 😊 It gets the sun first thing (when there is any 😂😂) so it's a nice place to sit with a morning cuppa, and slightly less exposed than the swing seat.
* later on I'd like to go for a walk/tentative run, probably by myself and just from the front door, not driving anywhere
EVENING
* financial admin - check the bank payment went through and has been in there for 24 hours - if so, withdraw and transfer to Mr Cheery's new account. There's a bill to pay too.
* open the post! There's been a build up this week, mostly connected with the bank switch, but it all needs opening properly and filing.
* bit of tidying - I started sorting some clothes baskets the other day so will finish that, plus 15 mins in the study I think, those shelves are looking quite stuffed...
* finish sewing Mr Cheery's hat while watching a film
* maybe a bath...
Sounds like a nice, cheerful and productive day for me! 😊8 -
