FreetodoasIlike said:What a palaver at the gym! You sound like you’ve got a lot of cafe’s in your area! Sounds like a nice quest. I would join you (in my area of course) but then again, I would eat too much cake - something I should avoid if I want to lose this pesky stone (and a bit)!4

My local council gym only does 1st to last day of the month which means if you pay on the 28th you pay again on the 1st. I suspect they are working with a very old system.

I think you're right about the old system! I think that's what the nice membership woman was trying to avoid, but what a palaver indeed.
Anyway, £2.09 TCB cashback available today so I've requested a payout 😊 I was at £595 extra dosh for June so it'll be nice to get closer to £600 if it arrives in time 😂 Did a few Prolific studies yesterday too. Barely any MB though.
Need to get my act together, meeting my sister in an hour, 49 mins drive away and I have had neither shower nor breakfast yet...🙄😂
Going to make use of my 2 for 1 garden entry card though that I got with Gardeners World magazine 😊 Only bought it for the entry card, which I think was recommended by Martin. The magazine was £9 I think, and this garden is £9 so at least it will have paid for itself! 😂7 -
Well, not a super cheap day but not super expensive either. We split parking & entry so £9 each, then 2 drinks and a baked potato for lunch, oh, and a sneaky ice cream 🤭
And an exciting email when I got home - I did a prolific study the other day for a couple kf quid and through it got a bonus of about £35! So cashed out almost £40 😃
Mr Cheery has just expressed a desire for a scone (!) Which of course we don't have - and apparently we also don't have much flour 😱 I don't fancy a 16 mile round trip to the shop 🙄 so going to see if I can be inventive with ground almonds etc 🙄12 -
My inventive scones worked nicely, just the last of the flour with the last of the ground almonds and some polenta, then butter, sugar, milk and sultanas 😂 really must buy some flour!
Another busy day today with a musical performance for me, for once. Mr Cheery didn't fancy it, and a couple of friends who said they might come decided they were too hungover, but it was a good afternoon all round despite my lack of contribution to the audience 🙄
Tired now, and no rest for the cheery as I'm in the office tomorrow, working Tuesday then a local event in the evening, then off to Scotland for a conference 😱 deliberately NOT planning anything for next weekend!9 -

Glasgow 😊 Just a flying visit really, and mostly taken up with the conference, although hoping to squeeze in a meeting with a pal too 😊
Annoyed this morning. We have an important presentation this afternoon, and had decided what we were doing in preparation last week. Over the weekend, a meeting was arranged for 9am - I was the only one not checking emails at the weekend, and therefore missed the meeting, as I don't work Fridays and so was dealing with a backlog of emails first thing so didn't get to the ones about that til later 🙄
Not working weekends has NEVER been a problem in this job, until this project with this person. Constantly feeling on the back foot all the time. Fortunately it ends today and I will be having a celebratory gin!6 -
The thing is - the expectation that people will check emails at a weekend is the problem here isn't it. My view would be "why on earth would anyone expect that people are checking work emails over a weekend" so the fault is squarely at the door of the person who chose the weekend to arrange a meeting which then didn't give those who don't (quite correctly) work over a weekend to attend. Working weekends should be considered to be an addition for the majority of those working in "9-5 type" environments, absolutely not the norm!
I should think a celebratory gin for no longer having to deal with that person is absolutely in order - IMO the only assumption that can really be drawn from the whole fandango is that they are presumably immensely unconfident in their own ability to do their job if they really have a need to be actively working to point-score against others to quite that extent!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

So not just a not very nice person but a control freak who probably knew about the meeting on Thursday but needs everyone to jump through hoops over the weekend. Enjoy your celebratory gin, you deserve it.

Indeed. I absolutely don't intend to start checking emails at the weekend any time soon, or, in fact, ever!8
