Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden ๐ป

Someone not paying attention, I think! ๐
Thanks @beanielou ๐
Finished in the garden now. Finished knocking down the dandelions growing through the veg patch mulch, and gave everything I planted with my friend the other day a good watering. Planted the lobelia I bought today, and a couple of things that were sitting in pots, and pondered where to put the bushes - we don't really have many 'edges' to our garden, it's views in all direction, lawn running straight into field with just a bit of a wire fence to keep the cows out ๐ฌ I'd like to create more structure, but Mr C is wary of blocking views in most direction, and nothing can go too close to the fence because the cows will lean over and munch ๐๐
Should probably have thought about that before buying bushes ๐

If they end up in the wrong spot, you can always just dig them up and put them elsewhere!
4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)Original End Date - Sept 2041 New projection - Sep 2038 (reduced by 3 years)6 -
Is there anywhere you could establish an โisland bedโ? Or along the edges of the veggie patch as that is demarcated as a separate space already? Or deliberately use them to frame one of the views?
Edit: I have a similar issue here btw โฆ ๐ Have three shrubs to find a home for that I found cheap and still arenโt in the ground! ๐๐คทโโ๏ธ

Ha,glad it's not just me! ๐ Yes, I think I've settled where they're going now - next to the willow dome, and eventually they'll both frame the view and block a little of the view from the footpath into the garden (irrelevant as the garden is fully visible as people are coming across the field but never mind ๐)
Having a lovely afternoon pottering in the garden in the sunshine ๐๐ got it into my head to wash all the pots in the greenhouse, which turned into turfing everything out and cleaning the greenhouse itself, which turned into painting all the wooden staging with decking oil ๐ฌ very satisfying, but I still haven't even started cleaning the pots yet ๐

OK. Staging is painted. Big trays are cleaned, and quite a lot of big pots. Some smaller are broken and getting chucked - I have far too many. Might see if anyone wants some of the unbroken ones too - no point me hoarding til they disintegrate.
A household miscommunication led to us having 2 family sized packs of mushrooms, so I've chopped one pack and they're in the dehydrator. Love dehydrated mushrooms in a risotto, they've got a much better texture.
I've also made laundry liquid for the next few months. Very nearly had a miscalculation but actually ended up with 5 litres of actual liquid, plus enough concentrate to do another 5 litres when we have some more free milk bottles ๐ Last time I did this it lasted us 9 months, although I can't remember if I made 5 or 10 litres at that point... ๐ค
11 -
Hmm, my blog archive suggests I made 'six litres, which I stored in an old sturdy milk carton' ๐ค I still have said old sturdy milk carton, and obviously it stores six PINTS, not six litres. No idea whether I made enough concentrate for 6 litres, or 3 litres/six pints.
either way, 3 litres seems to have lasted us 9 months (clearly we don't do that much washing) so given I've now just made enough concentrate for 10 litres, that's our laundry liquid sorted for the next 2 years ๐
Very MSE - 2 bars of ancient home made soap, plus less than ยฃ2 in washing soda and borax substitute (and some geranium oil, probably about 60 drops in all, probably the most expensive bit!)
Unintentionally prepping for laundry doomsday here. Feel free to bring your washing round ๐

Friend arrives to stay over at 8 - won't be a late night, she's staying because she has an induction at her new 1 day a month job on Monday, and we're about half way between job and home. So that's nice ๐ But I've not seen her for a while so a nice tea and some nattering, I think, then we'll all probably want an early bed.
Right, yoga or I won't have time! ๐ฎ
