I agree with KK - apologise to the person whose "thing" it was if that is needed, then make peace with yourself and let it go. Otherwise it will turn into one of those things that gets built up to be WAAY more significant than it was originally and in 5 years time your toes will STILL be curling when you think about it!

Thank you all for your kind and sensible words x
Well, I am now there quarters of the way through my busy week 😬 quite tired and not particularly wanting to go to work this morning but hey ho. I am mostly on top of things, and today isn't too bad. Do need to focus on my big task though, and there are likely to be a lot of disruptions 😬 i will do my best 😬
What to report? Stayed at friend's house in Tuesday night, and forgot to take dinner and tea with my for Wednesday when I packed in Monday night which was annoying, but went to the supermarket rather than canteen and managed to do both for about £6 - I did already have salad and fruit in the work fridge so that helped.
Late one last night, I've joined a new club on a Wednesday night and while it was tempting to just come straight home last night I didn't. Glad I stayed but didn't get home till 10.30, bed at midnight, Mr C came home 12.30 and woke me up, woke me up again and robbed my hot water bottle when he came to bed 😡, and now the alarm"s gone off and I could do with another couple of hours 😬
Friday off, thank goodness, although I might need to assess what's still to do. Visiting my friend for the weekend Saturday, nice but it's a 3 hour drive and a weekend of DIY which quite frankly I could do without this week 😬 bringing her back with me for a couple of days too, and driving her into town with me when I go to work. She's lovely and I barely see her but I will be in dire need of some time on my own by that point 😬
Anyway, best get up or there will have been no point setting the alarm so early!

Ha, so much for having today off! I'd planned to work the morning and have Monday morning off instead, and to be fair I didn't do a full day of sitting down work, but there was an internal deadline for something I was providing support for, and inevitably a LOT of people left it til the last minute (despite 2 months notice, reminders, offers of individual support etc). I've spent quite a bit of today firefighting, including walking people through the written guidance via a video call. Very happy to do that, would have preferred not to do it at 5.30pm on the day of the deadline 😬
Anyway, I did originally have an out of office message on, but several people started copying me into messages asking the same question of a more senior person, so I took it off again to save him the annoyance (and yes, I'll be taking the time back).
Didn't help that someone emailed the entire dept (300 people!) to check if there was a specific time deadline today (do you think we would just keep it a secret if there was??), then an administrator replied to all 300 people saying something completely incorrect about how things had to be submitted in a different way, and I am VERY glad I spotted that because in the 10 mins it took me to draft an 'AARRGGHH, NO, STOP!!' email, another 3 people had emailed EVERYONE to panic about that 🤯😬😂
Anyway. I did at least clarify that should ignore that person's message, that there was no time deadline, that there was no chance of an extension so stop asking, etc etc 😬 and told people to email me individually if they had an issue. Which of course they then did. Mostly because they hadn't read the instructions.
Goodness me. Today has at least confirmed I won't be working on an IT support desk any time soon 😂😂
Anyway, most of this was done while Mr C and I were sitting in a cafe or walking round the charity shops - not ideal but this is a rare occurrence for me. Senior person just stuck an out of office saying he was away from his desk (although I suspect he wasn't) and next time I might leave mine on and let people work things out for themselves... But we've all been there and it's nice to be kind when you can.
Off to visit a friend tomorrow. Supposedly to do DIY, but I've just spoken to her and she's done no preparation and would rather not bother. Fine, although I could really do with a weekend to myself if we're not doing anything specific 😂 never mind. We do have something nice planned for tomorrow afternoon and hopefully the weekend will be restful.

Thank you both. I think I've learned quite a lot from this experience - for various reasons it's been a lot different this year to previous years but I'll definitely be writing myself a list of things to consider for next year... 😬
Anwyay, tis the weekend now 🥳 I've done my 30 min cleaning podcast, still keeping that up despite the busy week, although I didn't do it last night, I went to bed almost as soon as I got home, and on Tuesday I was staying with a friend so just did 10 mins of deleting old emails. Today I put a few things away in the craft room, and lugged the dehumidifier up there ready for my friend staying on Monday night. Took the compost out, got sidetracked by the number of dandelions growing through the mulch in my veg patch, and by the small herd of deer in a neighbour's field settling down for a kip 🥰 cheerful, but a good reminder to get some gates on my veg patch before I plant anything 😂
Bath and bed now, early start tomorrow!

I was exhausted just reading that! Hope you have a relaxing weekend x
I've been mortgage free once, so let's do it again!
Starting balance March 26 £191,274.534 -
Ha, yes I'm hoping the weekend will be more relaxing. Yoga first, then slimming world (lost 2lbs - and finally dropped below what I was at the end of Feb before I put 3lbs on in a week 🙄😂), and then a 3 hour drive 😬😂 just stopped at services for tea, headache pills, and an almond croissant, which won't help me lose another 2lbs next week (but might help my headache 😂)
Anyway, friend also has a headache, so hopefully not too much activity. We are off for a tour of an archaeological dig site this afternoon though, a first for me! 😊 Won't be a spendy weekend (aside from diesel 😬) - she lives proper in the middle of nowhere, well more isolated than me, and once we're back from the dig we'll be staying in.

@Cheery_Daff - headache might be dehydration - chase down those pills with a large glass or two of flavoured water! (in my view soooooo much better than plain water!) - Well done on the weightloss - those plateaus can be mighty annoying but very satisfying when breaking through them!
