I recently had a small breakdown which was a result of both DD going off to uni plus the GP reducing my HRT (I'd been on an unsafe dose for 2 years and no one had noticed!). I referred myself for CBT and put an emergency call to the GP, who agreed to put my HRT back up. Within a week I was pretty much fine again. For that week I was crying continuously and literally not eating a thing, poor DH was so worried (plus the child still at home)
My experience is when things in life are stable you can cope with a hormonal wobble. When they're not though the HRT/hormone issue seems to exponentially increase the impact.
I really hope you are listened to and they can help, it is really scary being in a place like this.:eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20175 -
Oh @beckstar1975 that sounds rotten, I'm so sorry 😕 really glad you're feeling better now. I think you're right - and it also works both ways. When life or hormones are stable you can often deal with the other wobbling but if they both go at the same time that's a bit much!beckstar1975 said:I recently had a small breakdown which was a result of both DD going off to uni plus the GP reducing my HRT (I'd been on an unsafe dose for 2 years and no one had noticed!). I'm just sat in the car waiting for the GP to ring. I'm not a fan of phone appointments but I wanted to see this particular GP (who is a menopause specialist, and also lovely) and have already waited almost a month! They aim to call 'within 30 mins of appointment time' - which was fige mins ago. Left Mr C sitting in a car so I'm quite jealous, but obviously didn't want to take the phone call there!5 -
Right. GP finally rang (50 mins after appointment time). Had a good chat, she thinks it's worth experimenting with dropping my HRT does slightly. Feels counterintuitive, but I'm on the absolute max at the minute and it may be a bit too much. Anyway, that's the easiest thing to try as I can just put it back up again. If not, switching back to patches for a more even dose through the day.
And if those things fail, we'll try something else.
Just takes forever to sort things out doesn't it?5 -
Hormonal problems are just the worst, so impactful but just creep up and then bang. Glad GP was helpful (and that is to be valued)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
That sounds positive. Just to say I'm on the 100mg patches, but even the 75mg dose of gel was too much but not enough. Many of my friends swear by the gel but hate patches - so it's worth experimenting with both in case the other suits you much better.
Glad you were heard though, that alone is worth a huge amount:eek::eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20173 -
Too right, and I'm glad that you're having the conversation here. Too many health issues are hushed over - leading to folk suffering in silence. Fingers crossed the tweaks work for you Cheery.Glad you were heard though, that alone is worth a huge amount

Thank you all xx you're right, just being heard in the first place is helpful! I've always been grateful for people having conversations like this so I do try to when I can 😊
Mr C's feeling rough again, so we are having a restful afternoon. A nap for him, and some Call the Midwife (I stupidly started watching from the beginning again!) and a couple of blog posts for me, and a bit of photo sorting.
Just going to run him a bath then whizz round with the hoover.
Thank you to whoever mentioned The Organised Method podcast the other day (my apologies, I can't remember who!) I've downloaded the app and will experiment, although I'm not sure i want to pay for it! Cheaper than a cleaner though 😂4 -
Right. 'Humane kill' traps retrieved from an outbuilding and bated with stinky camembert 🙄 Camembert has been munched from the catch traps without setting them off (I think the sneaky thing has been standing in the doorway and stretching...) so it's clearly a favourite foodstuff 🙄
Two traps set on a known run, and we will keep our fingers crossed and our ears peeled for a loud bang. I don't like to kill things if I can avoid it but we've been trying to catch for knocking on for 3 weeks now which is quite long enough! It's got a week of these traps being out and then we'll resort to poison. I don't want to still be chasing rats at Christmas 😬
Local Christmas lights switch on and school fair tonight so we might pop down later, not for a couple of hours though, and Mr C might not feel like it at all. I quite fancy a mince pie and a bit of small scale local festivity though so I might go anyway!8 -

Thanks beanie 😊
We went 😊 Had a nice cup of tea and some little biscoff cake things at the school fair, there was a festive band, and I won a picture frame on the tombola 😂
Then off to see the brass band for some carols and the switching on of the lights 🎄 Most festive 😊 didn't win the raffle, but we did share a portion of chips and someone was handing out free mince pies 😊 all cheerful 😊9
