That's what I was planning to do, but some of them just never showed up!dawnybabes said:We have an odd sock drawer, they sit in it till I’ve some time then I pair them up !
This morning I organised what's left on my clothes rail in the bedroom (just tops, it's not long enough for dresses) by colour 😂 Surprised at how many black/navy things i have!
I also decided to chuck away a cardi i knitted myself. A friend bought me vouchers for a wool shop for my birthday, and I bought wool and knitted a cardi. I loved the process, I loved wearing it, but it wasn't a particularly flattering style, and when we moved it got a rip in the back, which I repaired badly and made a very visible bump. I've not worn it since, but been reluctant to throw it as I made it myself.
Properly got it out today - there are now several raggedy moth holes in it now too. So out it goes, and with it goes all guilt and feelings of 'i should fix it! I should wear it even though it doesn't fit!'. Nope - I made it 15 years ago, I wore it a lot, it's had its time.
Going to have a completely minimalist home after all this 😂
Banks checked. Remaining budgets half way through the month
Food & household: £247.90/£350
Diesel & parking: £200.42/£300
Joint treats: £112.50/£200
My spends: £100.55/£150
Mr C spends: £141.70/£150
Mr C was delighted to find another £7.50 in cash in a jacket pocket yesterday. Clearly he's going to subsist on jacket pocket cash this month, but that is a finite resource! (And is also previous budget just hiding!) Still, he is enjoying the frugality and the challenge so I'm not complaining.
I might reallocate yesterday's pie from my treats budget to the food budget though - it started as a gift for my mum but actually ended up being general lunch for everyone, including Mr C who originally wasn't going to be there. So I might get that £5.75 back into my treats budget 😂9 -
I'm assuming the budget resets at the end of the month, so even if he finds loose change all month, come October he'll still only have £150 to spend? Loving his technique though 😂Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years
Re-mortgage Oct 2017 - 78,295 over 23 years
Re-mortgage Jan 2020 - 55,000 over 26 years @ 1.94%

Please could you send me a few of Mr C's magical jackets?

@Cheery_Daff - I know this is an 'anti-decluttering' thought, but if you love the sweater that much, perhaps turning it into a cushion cover for your most cosy chair might be an idea? 😂 Ha, this is a new way of budgeting for us (we don't usually have such a strict assigned budget separately) so not sure how it'll work next month yet. But the Magic Jacket Money did pay for both of us a cafe trip this afternoon so... 😁Bargainhunter30 said:I'm assuming the budget resets at the end of the month, so even if he finds loose change all month, come October he'll still only have £150 to spend? 😂😂 I might start rummaging through a few of them myself! There's a seemingly endless supply of jackets in our house 😬Brewerspride said:Please could you send me a few of Mr C's magical jackets?
Not a bad suggestion at all! Might require a bit of figuring out to stop it unravelling. But the nice bit is the yoke round the next and the buttons, so that might work well on a cushion, thank you!rtandon27 said:@Cheery_Daff - I know this is an 'anti-decluttering' thought, but if you love the sweater that much, perhaps turning it into a cushion cover for your most cosy chair might be an idea? In case you're curious, it's this pattern
https://www.soulemama.com/soulemama/2010/02/tea-leaves.html
But in a kind of bright teal green. I might try to keep the opening style at the front by putting something underneath (kind of like you'd have another top under the cardi).
Will report back.
Incidentally, I miss that blog. I loved it. She had a very different life to me (homeschooling 5 kids 😂) but it was such a gentle, peaceful place to hang out 🥰 I miss blogs in general, most of the ones I used to follow have stopped now 😕3 -

Grrr. Blithering cars 😡
Heating stopped working on the little one. Big one needs an MOT. Rang the garage the other day and booked both in, little one for 24th, big one for 30th.
The other day the big one started making a funny noise, like something had fallen off and was rattling round the wheel drum 🙄 Decided to take the little one to today's funeral, and ring the garage tomorrow to swap them round.
Yesterday, driving the little one home, the engine temp light flashed, but only for a few seconds. Bought coolant and topped it up this morning, and it was fine, until about 20 minutes ago, when the light came on again... Bonnet open, steam (not lots, but enough...). Topped up again, left to cool, and we're attempting to get home.
Then we'll ring the breakdown people - but for which car?? Might do it in the morning once I've spoken to the garage to see which one they can fix quickest!6 -
