If it was for moi, I'd pick Option 1 but, as it's for you and Mr C, I'd pick Option 2 for you.

Decision made - seaside it is 😁
I too liked the isolation (and castle-y-ness) of the castle, but I spend a lot of time in the middle of nowhere and having to drive everywhere as it is... The place we're going is a bit more bustly, and we should be able to walk about (and walk home after a drink - very much a novelty! 😂) It's also a bit cheaper, both in terms of the place itself and substantially less driving.
So I am going to put all thoughts of castles out of my head and look forward to the seaside instead 😁 Not a sea view but you can't have everything (well, not unless you're willing to pay more than we are, or compromise on some other things!)
Right, feel better now that's booked 😁 just need to run the hoover round then go and retrieve my mother from her epic free bus trip 😂10 -

I’m a bit late but castle sounds too much like your normal day to day
seaside in a new place sounds perfect for a break with the advantage of sea air to blow away any cobwebs5 -

Ha! I'd definitely have been outvoted if I'd read it in time - in order of preference mine would be 1, 3, 2! Ha, you're very welcome but you'll have to find your own place to stay! 😂
Having slight pangs of regret about the castle, it is a very good castle! 😂 But I made the right decision 😂
Pleased to report that my mum has made it without incident 😊 2 local trains plus 3 buses - all free, all on time. 5.5 hours, not too bad 😂 She didn't pack a picnic so we've treated her to a restorative cafe trip 😂13
