Isn't athlete's foot what soldiers used to call foot rot, on a much larger scale obviously. Caused by wearing boots for days without removing. Drying it out is a good idea (from when I had it) but not sure what I would use to do it now. I used to wedge a tissue between my toes. I got mine from missing a few grains of sand after a walk on the beach.

Thanks all,
I'm still not convinced it was athlete's foot to start with! Anyway, the pharmacist has had a look today and given me different antihistamines so I'll take those for a couple of days. Antibiotics run out tomorrow so if it's still not better by the end of the week I'll try the GP again.
Work today, nothing much to report. Took breakfast and dinner. Was about to pay for parking but thought to check for a last minute permit and there was one, hooray! So I snagged that.
I'm taking part in the big Our Future Health study, so had my appointment for a blood test and measurements etc on the way home from work, and have just collected my £10 voucher (I just chose a supermarket one). So something to start off October's free money stash (although I suppose in this case I literally paid in blood 😂)
A nice evening at our local (ish) German conversation club 😊 This is a recent discovery and the first time I've been. Didnt say much, but I was surprisingly able to follow a conversation that ranged wildly from school reunions to weddings to the tower of London to the origins of Chelsea pensioners to driverless cars 😂 At least that's what I think they were talking about 😂😂9 -
Evening chums
Not much to report today. Went to the office (again) - Mr Cheery dropped me off so no parking cost. Got a free lunch and a couple of cups of tea, so haven't spent anything, and today's lunch is saved for tomorrow.
Tea from the freezer, and a lesson in why you shouldn't freeze stuff that isn't very niceIt was alright - I'd just put too much chilli powder in it. Calmed it down with a bit of peanut butter and some bread. Not looking forward to another two portions, but I'll make sure I have them when at home so I can tinker with them a bit.
Very tired tonight. Back to back meetings today, but it was a nice enough day and I did get a few things done in between.
Back in the office tomorrow too. For one reason and another I've ended up in the office all four days this week and all four days next week - NOT ideal! Next week I have to also be in town at various points on three days. Could just stay in town but then I don't have a kettle and my normal office set up, and from experience that means I just spend money on tea (and cake).
To be fair this is unusual - definitely being in town this much is unusual for me, and being in the office four days only ever really happens at the start of term, so it'll quiet down soon.
Anyway, need to do end of September banking/YNAB reconciliation, but quite frankly I'm too tired tonight so it can wait. Woke up quite a lot last night, should have got up again and gone to the loo but I couldn't be bothered... Hey ho.
Need to make breakfast to take with me tomorrow. Last day of antibiotics tomorrow, and this reminds me I didn't take my tablet before my tea. Never mind - I'll have tonight's as usual, and that just leaves two for tomorrow rather than one. All the rest have been taken on time.
Anyway, nothing else to report. Mr Cheery has run himself a leisurely bath and I am looking forward to lying on the sofa with a film once he gets in it

Hope you slept better last night, Cheery, and today's office day isn't too tiringLive the good life where you have been planted.

Thank you Elisheba, I did indeed sleep a little better, although not for long enough!
Got up early and was in the office (an hour away) by 7.40 😮 This time of year the commute is rather annoying - if I set off any later than about 7.20 I get stuck in traffic and it can take 90 mins instead of 60. When we first moved I used to get there at 7am and leave at 3, missing traffic in both directions (but obviously that meant leaving home at 6am).
Lately I've been leaving about 7.45, getting there about 9.15 - but with the new parking situation that means I'm driving round looking for a space and door to door it can end up being almost 2 hours one way! Ridiculous!
So some thought needed about the best way to tackle it.
Anyway, this week and next week are just ones to get through - 4 days of commuting both weeks, and next week has three of those days with meetings on two separate sites, plus a dentist visit and the car is going to the garage (which is fine, because it saves me paying for parking 😂). After that I should be able to control it at 2 days max in the office, then 3 throughout November.
Anyway, all this talk of parking and commuting and traffic is very boring! I could easily solve it by parking further away and walking in - means a 3 hour round trip guaranteed but at least 1 hour of that would be walking and I'm always saying I don't get enough exercise...4 -
Anyway, it's the weekend now, hooray! Despite being at work at 7.40am I didn't actually leave til 5.15, and didn't get home til almost 7. Clearly tired as I then had a stupid spat with Mr C over something trivial 🙄 Still, we channelled our grumpiness into hanging the washing up and putting the bins out so at least that was useful 🙄 I have now run a bath and am leaving him in peace for a while!
Hoping to have a rather more cheerful and productive time this weekend than last! Mr Cheery Snr is on a coach trip to the seaside, so we're going to join him for the day on Saturday 😊 And around that, a few things to tick off:
* refit broken tile, and do the grouting if it dries in time
* end of Sept banks/YNAB
* get a few meals in the freezer for the week given I'm commuting every day
* make new hot water bottle cover
* work is having an academic book amnesty (mostly because they're shifting us to hot desking without bookcases and are trying to sell it as 'a chance for a clear out' 🙄) so I want to see if there's anything I've got hanging round at home that I can donate
* blog post
* find something cheerful to send to a friend who's having some health issues
That'll probably do. I'll see how I feel - might try and shift some of the remaining hay if my face and foot and the weather all hold out, but if not, more time on the sofa with my feet up!6 -
Yay for your weekend starting now! Hopefully you'll get lots of sleep tonight and be raring to go by tomorrow 😁Live the good life where you have been planted.

Oh lord, hot desking is my idea of hell ….
Hope you and Mr Cheery are back on good terms and am glad that your weekend has begun. Sounds like you need it.

Hotdesking is everyone's idea of hell! 🙄 Fortunately we're not moving til at least April now so I can have my own desk for a while yet (although I did have to ring estates today to ask them to pretty please put the heating on because we were all sat there in coats with hot water bottles 🙄)
Going to attempt a cafe breakfast tomorrow for a bit of a plotting and scheming session 😊 Sadly our favourite cafe has made a few changes recently that have made it a bit annoying, and we don't yet have a default to replace it. Quite vexing, but it is an excuse to try a few different ones 😂4
