We watched the first episode but were not impressed. It was interesting seeing the familiar places but that was all. We are near Sandwich.

Thanks for the heads-up @annieb64.  We’ll probably watch them as a piece of brainless fluff.  We watched the Marlow Murder Club recently, which mostly fitted into that category.  I’m certain the rowing regatta scenes from that were filmed at Henley, not at Marlow, since a) I’ve been to a few regattas and Henley is the only one that had a dress code; and b) when they panned over to the bridge and the far side of the river, it looked like Henley.

I have been going through old books which have been on my shelves for ages and just finished an autiobiography by Dave Pelzer called a Child called it about child abuse.  Quite harrowing.  Now starting a Lesley Pearse novel as I have been passed over loads of these by various people and not yet read them.

enthusiasticsaver I hope you enjoy Lesley Pearse I have read most of her books and find her very readable. She did a 'Meet the Author' in our Library at Chatham as our local library like to get Authors to come and chat about their books and she was very interesting and did a talk about her life
She's led quite a colourful one so has written a good deal about things I think she's actually seen or experienced. Lovely lady who spent part of her childhood in the Medway area before moving to London.

I'm now reading Abandon by Blake Crouch, first one I've read of his, and its interesting, although it switches between 1893 and today, None the less a different sort of book to my normal crime ones, although it does have a criminal thread through it .

    Happy reading chums

Oxfam has a 40% off sale online over Easter. I found out this afternoon and spent £25 on books. Husband has bunged some money into my count to pay for web hosting my new website land a bit more. This will cover his birthday presents and some books for me. !)

    I got:

My Italian Family Cookbook Lawrence Dallaglio, a First Edition (for him)
Two Greedy Italians Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo
Antonio Carluccio's Southern Italian Feast DVD
    Italian Regional Cookery Valentina Harris
Con Gusto: How Italian Food Conquered Britain Bill Knott

    From eBay: 11.52

Olives and Olive Oil Katerina Tsouchtidi
    Rick Stein's French Odyssey
    Floyd on Italy Keith Floyd
The French Menu Cookbook Richard Olney

Previously I had only about five Mediterranean cookbooks. They may be cheapo second-hand but I'm excited !
As an Italian myself, I totally approve of your choices. The French bit too, naturally.

The tail end of March brings all the new month's magazines out on Pressreader, which I can access & read  via my library account logon.  I've spied a recipe for 'Nettle Rarebit' in 'the Simple Things' publication.

We have a lot !! of nettles coming through so I'm very tempted to do this as a store cupboard supper tomorrow in advance of April's big Lidl shop.
