@Coupon-mad thanks for your response. I am at the witness statement stage. Letter from the county court states the claim will be heard on 15th Jan at 10:00am. It also states I am required to deliver to the other party and to the court office copies of all document on which that party intends to relay at the hearing no later than fourteen days before the hearing. It also mentions witness statements.

    2025:

    Hello everyone,

Letter received with a court date set for January 2026. I have now received an email with a Mediation Appointment set for 28th May 2025. I do not want a mediation and would like to proceed with the court date. Can you please advise on my options and the best way to proceed?

    Many thanks for your help.
What happened at the January hearing?

    1) I have now received a letter from my local county court (dated 17/10/2024) with a proposed hearing date of 15th Jan 2025. I will need your help and advice with preparing a defence, witness statements, etc.

    1)  Surely your defence has already been submitted if you have a hearing date.
    2)  Confused!  Do you have two hearing dates for the same claim?
    3) Mediation is now compulsory.

There was a typo and it should have been January 2026 and not 2025. In essence, the hearing is yet to happen. However, I have now received an email with a mediation appointment for 25th May 2025.

@Le_Kirk thanks for responding so quickly. Sorry to be a pain, but I am struggling to find the mediation stage advice. Are you able to drop a link? Much appreciated.
