As one of the 12 million grey voters, any tinkering with the triple lock will lose the Tories votes so I'm betting he'll leave well alone and if LIEBORE get in its there problem.
The next tax year I WILL pay income tax on my state pension and this alone sticks in my throat!
I'm not averse to being taxed but dont give it me with one hand and then take it back with the next!
I've never voted Tory and not voted LIEBORE for over 25 years and don't intend to.
Normally I vote for an Independent candidate in both local and national elections, my belief is change can only come if you DONT vote for the 2 party shambles, unfortunately I'm in the minority nationally but locally we've had an independent candidate in our ward for a number of years, unfortunately in a 49 seat local council, 45 of them are LIEBORE!
My vote at the next GE.........................REFORM......................even if they don't gain a seat, its a message we need to send to the big 2 that we aint happy!

If we're going to get into politics could we please be a little politer about it? Both Labour and Reform pose valid arguments as do most of the political parties I'm aware of and I'm sure most of those who go into politics do so for the right reasons.

Rubbish most would be reform voters are working class citizens who have found themselves no where to turn and not represented by either of the main parties.

I've always wondered why they don't reintroduce gambling tax, given the devastation a gambling addiction can cause and the enormous reported salary of Denise Coates it seems like it could be a win.

It was never taken away, it is just paid directly by the companies (passed on to the customer with worse odds) now instead of “at source” by the customer, the overall take is higher in the current format than it was before, and far easier to collect and less chance of fraud.

  • Can't wait.....only a few hours to go before I learn how much better off i'm going to be ......go Jeremy, looking forward to it.

Probably not related to budget, but I'd like to see some of the levels for needing to fill in a self-assessment tax return raised - with higher interest rates and potentially returns from stocks and shares I bet HMRC have a higher workload than they used to in helping all the people who've been dragged into it.

It is hard to keep politics out of it because a 2% NI reduction would be a political move. Hunt already gave 2% in the autumn statement (how many types of budget get called something else: autumn statement, mini-budget...) coming into effect mid-tax year with a Spring election in mind. This next reduction is so they can harangue Labour about whether they would reverse it/raise taxes.

A new British ISA will allow an additional £5,000 annual investment for investments in UK equity. Includes all tax advantages of other ISAs and will be on top of the existing ISA allowances.

What's classed at British? Would be nice if I could add an extra £5K of FTSE Global All Cap to my ISA.

I totally agree, but this might, providing they offer a competitive interest rate.

A new British savings bond, delivered through NSNI will offer a guaranteed fixed rate for 3 years.
