Haggling with Sky about contract renewal

Hi folks,
My mum's Sky deal is about to expire and I seem to recall a few years ago that if you called up and cancelled they would usually call back during the notice period with a view to getting to you renew the contract often with a discount.
Does anyone know if this is still the case or do they stick to their guns with the pricing/discounts these days? They did tell me last week that her current price includes the maximum discount and that they aren't able to offer any other incentive if she commits for another 18-24 months.
Thanks

There's a huge thread on this here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5480644/sky-tv-retention-deals-post-your-haggling-successes#latest2

If you have a look at the Sky forum you'll see that they are playing hardball and the days of really heavy discounts are long gone.
Most discounts are only available for 18 months.

How much does she actually watch?
We ditched Sky years ago, bought a Freesat box that connects to the Sky dish and top it up with streaming services as required.
Any Sky content required you can get through Now TV.
For example I take Sky Sports on Now for £19.99 a month on a deal I took last week to coincide with the start of the F1 season. I’ll cancel it at the end of the season and I’ll get a similar offer at the start of next year’s season, but I don’t need to pay for their standard service.1 -
Just renegotiated mine. I was due to go to £55, asked for a renewal quote and got £44 , countered with EE's £30 offer that include nowt entertainment and cinema and got an offer for £38.5. I was then told there's a £10 admin charge, asked "!!!!!!?" ( Politely) and that was dropped.0

I ditched Sky and got a Freesat recorder; it's nearly as good as Sky Q.Sky keep sending me offers, but I've invested in the Freesat now, so they're of little interest.0
