I would stay in the union as you never know when you may need help.People may not vote for strike action as most probably can't afford to lose pay either.Sorry about the migraine..hope it gets better soon xx

Ooh that's a tough one ISOM. Personally I've never joined a union, partly because I've known people be in them for years and when they've needed help the union's been absolutely useless. Am sure there are plenty of stories to the contrary though.

hey Isom - a really tricky one regarding the strike - I had the same dilemma, and decided I would feel better, although poorer(!!), if I went out on strike. Really difficult decision though.

It is a hard call as the others have said ....what do your colleagues think?..maybe that would sway you one way or the other.I have never been a member of a union so can't pretend to understand anything about them

    Hey lovely!

I hope you're feeling better today. I haven't had a migraine for a really long time, but I still remember them with horror.

I'm in favour of unions as a rule and Unison in particular, but It's a shame about the strike making you lose money though.

My gorgeous daughter and I are on our own for tea so we have pooled our pennies and ordered a £6.99 Dominos pizza . OOh Luxury!

I've got to go and pick it up in a mo (but it's only at the end of our street really.)

Love Jacks (and Jacks 's weeblish @r$e!) xxx :D

In haste as wanted a quick catch up before going to babysit - changed my on call to Monday so thats good! Got to do list before I go so I can do rest of shop tomorrow on way home to leave Sat as stress free as poss...
Its a pain re going in strike but the problem with not being in a union in my job is that it leaves you very vulnerable legally in the case of allegations/complaints etc....while it will leave me short (& I pray that it wont drag on too long) I hope that it means a fair pair offer. With cost of living etc so high and no increase as such (would in effect be a pay cut if we accepted what they were proposing although I did vote no again...seems to make little difference though!) I am leaning toward the fact that they are taking the p**** so will just go on strike but as I said, hope it doesent go on long as there will be a point where I would have to work! Will catch up with you all soon...Sea havent forgotten CJ...ben a busy & somewhat unpredictable week but will try & do it Sun night if I have the energy!

Hey there Mrs T!! Yup a pay rise would be nice but I am lucky to earn good money and its people like the cleaners who really struggle - I only struggle cos I was stoopid with my money!
Just back from babysitting & having a glass of wine to chill before bed. Have done my shopping list so all ready plus my babysitting lady leant me her cocktail shaker which will be most handy!! Feeling quite excited! Pre DFW days I used to do lots of entertaining but since I started doing my job that has taken over & left less energy but I must make more of an effort me thinks a have enjoyed all the planning, menu deciding etc...plus i owe various friends some entertainment & have been a bit carp of late with that so will pull me (cheap!) socks up! Yes Taxi lil boy fast asleep but hes no trouble when hes awake & when he is I get to play cars! They have a gorgeous, if moulty, cat who loves me as much as I love her!! Will try & have a quick catch up & then bed...feel wide awake but wont when alarm goes off at 6.15!!

  • Unions are worse than useless in my opinion. The times i have had to have advice, they have been lax and had to sort out myself...so no union fees from me. I have found it can be a bit dicey especially on supply teaching, but so far haven't had a detrimental effect.
