First spend of the March budget here today: £49.07 between the butchers and the supermarket, but it seems I forgot the sliced bread... sigh!Angie - GC May 24 £162.50/£450: 2024 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 10/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)4

Kicking off the month with £99.14 spent at Lidl yesterday.
This included £7.89 on 2 steaks as a treat for dinner last night. They were so large that there was enough left over for DH to have as a sandwich for lunch today. And treated us to some asparagus to have with it (my favourite veg).
I am planning a new raised bed which will be fully planted with asparagus this year in hopes of having a good supply in future years as so amazing but always expensive to purchase.
Also got 2 whole chickens which will do Sunday Roast, Monday Stir Fry and lunches for the week. I find this cheaper and healthier than buying packet meat.Content at £99/£500 so far.

Just milk for us so far. £7.50 for next week. They have changed the whole organic milk and it is not so good. More like semi-skimmed and far less creamy. I'm considering a break for a few weeks to see how I go with the local co-op (though that will mean hot cross buns when they have them).Save £12k in 2024 - #2 target is £5000 only £798.34 so far

£32 added from this morning's market trip, £7 of which was a jar of local honey; we go through one every couple of months but that's something I won't compromise on as a fair number of mass-market "honeys" have added high-fructose corn syrup. Also reputed to be good for alleviating hay fever - which hasn't hit me for years, to be honest! The rest was all fruit & veg. I'll have to do a non-perishables run down to the city early next week, but so far, so good.Angie - GC May 24 £162.50/£450: 2024 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 10/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)4

Spent £4.60 so far on a loaf of sourdough. We're making a real effort to eat through the freezer contents and still have plenty of fresh stuff too so I'm hoping to get through next week without having to buy anything. 🤞4
