We overspent slightly this month and have run down the Freezer stocks so I’m going to try for £300 this month.

Thanks so much @elsiepac for the new thread. The GC is really keeping me motivated and on track.
Still on Feb budget until the 1st.
Still trying to reduce the budget gradually (thanks everyone for the encouragement and suggestions to take it down slowly!).
Will still have some things in the freezer to start March with.
I am feeling a little better, and am better more consistently and more able to plan things and make things from scratch or components of meals. Also, we have actual usable room in the freezer now!
So, given I might buy extra things for Easter, that I will hopefully have about £30 left of Feb budget and I have some main parts of meals in the freezer for March and quite a few tinned/dry staples that I need to use I'm going to be a little more ambitious for us and aim for:£330 per month.
This is for food only for 2 adults, and any fresh food (chicken/fish) for 2 x stupidly hungry cats or tinned cat food at the supermarket.
Dry cat food and most wet cat food comes out of a separate cat food budget.
Housecleaning/laundry comes out of a different bulk budget.
Any household things or wet cat food bought at the supermarket will also come out of the grocery budget, though try to stick to the bulk funds, except chicken/fish which is also sometimes shared by the humans!
Eating out is a different budget, but if that is gone, any eating out then has to come from the grocery budget.
This is down from £350 for Feb and Jan.
I was at £360 before Christmas.
Ideally still needs to get down further each month if possible but baby steps to make it doable!

£220 and £50 for eating out (includes my birthday meal which I will go halves on so higher than usual).
I don't want to reduce it any more, I'm happy with that.

I am in. Even though, I have not quite managed to stay to budget, I am still spending less than I was a few months ago.

Hi 👋 I will be joining this thread from 1st March. My budget is £500/ month for 2 adults and 3 children. Cat food is calculated separately. My aim is to stick to our budget for at least 3 months before I start to reduce it. I’ve been over budget so far so we will see what happens over the coming months. Thanks @elsiepac.

I reckon I spent £300+ in February. I’ve just done a final February T&scos shop but it did include a bottle of wine, not for me may I add. I usually get 2 weeks out of one £60 shop at T&scos. but that includes freezer diving and tiny top up shops plus the veg delivery.0 bonus saver

Right, I'm definitely in it to win it this time!
I've not been the greatest past 2 months! But being accountable for things has let me know where I'm going wrong 🙃
I've done a freezer inventory and pantry inventory and I'm determined to use up what I've got and save the money! Also going back to my cash stuffing.***So please put me down for £400, 1 adult and 4 kids that eat like adults ***
Going to try and go well below that and challenge myself to use up what we have.January 2025 GC 🥕 £144.61 / £400
