Venetian blinds - she climbs through them and bends them. She has broken both aluminium and wood versions and I have little hope wooden shutters would be safe! I had to take two spare slats off and replace the broken ones. If she breaks these I will replace my bedroom blind with something else and use it for spares as they are the same size. She is lucky she’s cute 😂

Ah … so they are impeding the majesty of Cat …. 👑😉

I know it’s seriously old school, but maybe nets would be a better option if you have the blinds for privacy? Then Madam could slide between the nets and the window and she could see out?

I’m afraid she climbs the regular curtains so nets would be ripped to shreds in no time. I did consider those or those day/night blinds but nope. Funnily enough googling how to fix blinds leads to a whole lot of stories about cats and dogs who have wrecked blinds.

I feel very lucky! Apart from the occasional bit of carpet ripping - lazily and without real intent, our little monkey does no damage at all in the house. If you discount all the live and dead mice that is … 🙄😂😂

Re cats and window coverings, I have considered getting blinds but I just know I'd have similar issues as I have floor to ceiling windows in the living room and himself likes to keep a close eye on the comings and goings outside and I'm sure would wreck blinds going through them to get a better view 🙄.  My curtains are in a sorry state as he ripped a bit of the lining chasing a blue bottle and there is a furry hem to the curtains where he pushes behind them when they're closed😊.  Just as well he's a lovely boy 😻.

Ahhh teapot they are such a delight😂 her majesty has been sitting on my lap while I finished my book this morning but it’s done now so there will be a protest soon when I get up.
I think I might head out for a run for a while before sorting the house out today. I have a course for work this evening so there will be lots of sitting about later.

  • Do you remember when those metal blinds were popular, my sister had a set in blue for I think it was the kitchen and dining room. Well she got two kittens. She went out one day and when she came home she actually rang me in tears thinking she'd been burgled until she couldn't find any evidence of things being taken or windows/doors broken. The cats had destroyed the blinds, bent them, snapped them, pulled one set off the window, which in turn knocked a vase all over the floor, other items on the side as they were heavy, they had knocked pictures over, destroyed a cushion and one side of a sofa..... they were playing chase......she realised this when they decided to do it one night at about 3am and she heard everything clattering to the ground once again  I was quite glad I was allergic to cats at that point...she took the blinds off and just let everyone nose in as she couldn't force herself to buy another set, think she was pretty peeved at them only lasting a few days
