  • I've just been able to replicate what Elsien has said.

    I'd be looking at the 'flexible to reschedule' option if you need it, asking to chabge the accommodation.

    As far as this goes and the previous question, the listing clearly states 'different location' and gives a list of addresses. That is about as clear as it can be.

    The difference between Tartaczna 2 (the address shown on booking.com on the link you used and also on the map for me) and the Hilton is a few minutes walk, so I don't see this about 200m, so I can't see this as being a reason to cancel on its own unless there are multiple steps that otherwise wouldn't be and a wheelchair user or similar, at which point a room exchange is likely to be easier where possible.
    Sadly apart from paying outside of booking.com, they’re not interested in moving the room. 

    I’ve just noticed something though. That isn’t the room and street that came up for me. It was on Dulag 47/49 (I think that’s the street?) that was coming up for me on the map, which is about a 15 minute walk away.
    If you're happy to pay when you get there, I don't see a problem.

    I've paid partially through the site and for breakfast/room upgrade on arrival a number of times. 99.9% of businesses in Poland are honest and I've only met 1 rogue accommodation, although legally we did get what we paid for.

    In Poland you have a legal right to a receipt for cash transactions. This must contain the tax number of the business which can be searched in a public register even for sole traders (unlike the UK).
    The thing for me is around how much extra they’re asking for. I’d have been better off booking for the Central Hotel with how much it would add on top, although totally get the principle of what you’re saying which is reassuring at least 
    You will need to negotiate a rate before arrival. You can do this via the site or on another network. 50-100zl (£10-20) would be fair, more likely wouldn't be.

    If you get any problems on arrival, the police have zero tolerance regarding scams against tourists.
    Thanks! I’ll give the negotiation tactic a bash. They did come back with I think was around 400zl for the change of room which is part of the reason I was also somewhat miffed.

    Good evening all, 

    hope everyone is well :) 

    I have an issue with a booking I’ve done and how to go around it. 

    I found, what I thought was a hotel via booking.com in Poland. Booked it as it had a good location and didn’t think anything else. I then had a message from the hotel which confirmed the booking and then an address. I looked and found out it was a different location (it’s about 15 minutes from where I thought I booked). 

    I’ve tried to get a refund on the booking but the hotel is unfortunately refusing this. 

    Now I have made two mistakes - one being I literally for the first time ever paid on my debit and not credit card but also chosen the non refundable option. 

    My question is around if this is allowed and if I can get my money back? I’m assuming that as I’m not getting what I booked then hopefully I’d have a case to get my cash? 

    Any help would be appreciated! 
    Credit or debit card makes no difference here.
