Issue with booking.com and booked room

Good evening all,

hope everyone is well :)

I have an issue with a booking I’ve done and how to go around it.

I found, what I thought was a hotel via booking.com in Poland. Booked it as it had a good location and didn’t think anything else. I then had a message from the hotel which confirmed the booking and then an address. I looked and found out it was a different location (it’s about 15 minutes from where I thought I booked).

I’ve tried to get a refund on the booking but the hotel is unfortunately refusing this.

Now I have made two mistakes - one being I literally for the first time ever paid on my debit and not credit card but also chosen the non refundable option.

My question is around if this is allowed and if I can get my money back? I’m assuming that as I’m not getting what I booked then hopefully I’d have a case to get my cash?

Any help would be appreciated!

    Whose error was the location?
Yours? Wrong address on booking.com? Something else?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

So, I think it’s technically the hotel doing it - it seems that they have one hotel which you click on, say 20 rooms BUT then they’re in different locations rather than each room having their own hotel page. But in terms of the end user, it appears all the rooms are on street A, but they’re dotted around the whole city

Can you post the listing and the actual address?

I suspect it may be one of the multi-apartment companies that seem to be common these days but want to be sure before giving an opinion.

I have noticed more and more the importance of being careful in Poland but luckily have decent suppliers in the cities I need now.

Of course :) I’ll pop it below here. And you could be right re the multi apartment listing

its frustrating as I purely looked at the location of the actual building. To find it linked elsewhere is just infuriating!

It does say different areas of Gdańsk and if you scroll down the options they are on different streets, but if you book a specific street that’s what you’d expect to get?

Just to confirm, it's the Blue Mandarin showing at Tartaczna 2?

Which address have you got? As the 3 showing on the site with the exception of Jaglana are arguably actually in a better location than the address shown for the 'central strip' along the marina/river, although that is very close to a tram stop (and public transport in Poland is very good, plus being especially cheap with a multi-day ticket). They're slightly further from the old town however the areas in general are quiet. We stayed in Chlodna a few years ago (slightly further Jaglana) and found it a 10-ish minute walk to the edge of the centre and 5-ish to the tram stop to the main station.

In terms of general honesty that looks like one of the better ones unless it's very much outside of the centre.

The terms of your contract for this booking will be based in Poland. I own a tour operating company in Poland and the rights for accommodation only are no refunds except due to dishonesty unless otherwise governed by the contract.

Looking at the options on my app, it doesn't appear it's possible to book a specific street.

OP may have options I've missed though.

The location of mine is Targ Rybny just opposite the Hilton Gdańsk. Frustrating it seems the furthest from the bit we wanted to be in. Just to clarify, the location (which is why the map feature was perfect for us to use) was due to ease as walking due to an issue is causing a problem. Usually I wouldn’t care and I’d have not had a problem if it wasn’t for that in all honesty

This is my question too. As I was looking at the map, and clicking and looking at options using that functionality, I’m sure I didn’t see the write up/options either. Just the top room which naturally I thought was the room in the right area
  • Just to add as well for thoughts, I was under the impression that a listing on booking had to be within the same property/block of apartments rather than be spaced over x amount of space? It’s not something I’ve seen in the UK so unless it’s a regional rule, am surprised it would even be allowed anyway due to this exact issue?
