  • Awful company - avoid Mark's Electrical mkelec markselectrical.co.uk!

I regret purchasing a product from Mark's Electrical. Their customer service is non-existent, and they take no responsibility for issues. A Beko dryer was delivered to my property, and during the installation, they damaged an exterior gas pipe. Despite paying extra for the removal of packaging, the delivery team left it behind, seemingly eager to leave after causing the damage.

To make matters worse, the dryer was inoperable, and I had to arrange for Beko to come and fix it myself. I have sent numerous messages via Amazon’s message centre and emailed complaints to complaints@markselectrical.co.uk, but have received no response.

With two small children in the house, a damaged gas pipe is a serious safety concern, but Mark's Electrical clearly doesn’t care. Avoid this company at all costs!

  • Sorry to hear you've had that issue.  I'm having real problems with Marks Electrical too.  I bought a fridge-freezer from them as well as the installation / recycling additional service.  They couldn't fit it (due to ineptitude of their fitter) and offered me a refund.  I still haven't received my money despite contacting them repeatedly including their complaints e-mail.  I'm at my wit's end...it was well over £550 which is a huge amount to me.  I will be taking my issue to the UK Trading Standards if I haven't heard by the end of this week and then, failing that, will be taking them to the small claims court.  I think you should contact UK Trading Standards too - this is completely unacceptable.  Good luck!

Trading Standards won’t do anything to get your money. They do not deal with individuals. If they get enough complaints they may investigate the company buy you will not know.

    How did you pay?
  • Thanks Sheramber - you're right and I will also be contacting the Citizens Advice Bureau and will be submitting a claim through the small claims court too.  I tried to pay them via credit card but their system wasn't working and, as I was trying to get the order done at speed, I saw that they allowed payment by direct bank transfer so that is how I ended up paying for it.  Not ideal but there you go - I have all the receipts and e-mails from them saying the refund would be paid.  Still nothing.  I really do not understand how, in this day and age, such a seemingly big company like Marks Electrical can operate like this.  It's outrageous.  I'm extremely lucky in that I can get by without this causing me dire financial difficulty but it would be a very different situation if money was very tight.
