What does "holding out" mean? Have they left it open, or given you a firm refusal? If the latter, then holding out is a waste of time. To pursue it you'd have to send them a letter before court action, see if that elicits the refund you're after (or possibly part of it) and if it doesn't, see it through to court. I guess the court might view the full sums you've had to be generous, after all, that's what the FOS has said.
What's the value of the three months' payments you've been refunded in excess of entitlement, and how does that stack up against the cost of the mats, the warranty and service plan?0 -

From one of the more recent emails exchanged:
"You will not receive any additional monies from us, as all the compensation comes from Honda Finance"
There has been no "compensation" per se, just the refund of what I've paid out.Aylesbury_Duck said:

You say refunded in excess of entitlement. I don't see it as in excess of entitlement. I've been told in emails from Honda, and the dealer that the objective was to get me back to the day before I bought the car - i.e. not out of pocket.
Am I wrong to pursue this outstanding monies? It'll be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end....0 -

I decided to take the extended warranty, 5 year service plan and 2 sets of mats OFF my finance agreement and pay for them in cash.
Of the 5-year service plan, you have presumably had 1 year so far, so any refund would be 80% of the original cost.
When would the extended warranty commence? Presumably the car had an original manufacturer's warranty of 1 year or 3 years, so the extended warranty is basically an insurance policy which has not yet commenced the cover period. This might well have a cancellation process within the warranty / insurance policy (rather than via the dealer). There could be a good case for this being refundable.
Overall, you have had the use of a car for a year. You paid £30k for the car which was refunded in full. How much does the service plan and warranty amount to? How much would the depreciation have been had the car you purchased been good? I'm not saying you should lose the value of the remaining service plan and warranty (insurance), but that may still leave you better off financially than had you suffered the depreciation on the car.1 -

Are you wrong to pursue it? I don't know. As stated above, you should be put back in the same position you were in, but you have had use of a free car for a long time, so you're up on that for a start.0 -
Hoping this might still be alive?
Can I ask did you buy from a dealership or from Honda directly? And who did you deal with when rejecting the vehicle?
I'm having a similar issue but. have been dealing with the dealership where I bought the brand new car, rather than the car brand itself.Thanks!0 -

I do believe it would be Honda you would need to reject it with if you do not have finance.
It has been a long, slow laborious process from Dec 23 until Nov 24 before finally getting a full refund from both the manufacturers and the dealers.
If you need any advice or help then I'd be happy to try and help. It'll be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end....0 -
Disgruntleddadtobe refers to an MG ZS in his other post so he would need to contact MG not Honda0
