In which case the name is very misleading.
  • Tracked 48 is rubbish - it rarely gets there in 48 hours. Its generally several days at least.
Tracked 24, on the other hand, is great. Always delivered next day without fail. I would much rather pay the little extra for Tracked24.
Just received a Parcelforce 24 delivery 6 days after it was posted. Obviously no better.

The 24 and 48 are "aim to deliver within".  Neither are guaranteed.  I saw some stats a couple of years that showed the percentage of Tracked 24 delivered within 24 hours.  I can't find it now but I think it was around the low 90s%.  The only "guaranteed" next day service is Special Delivery.
  • As I said, I've always had Tracked24 delivered the following day.
Tracked48 always takes several more days - best part of a week at least.

I’m sure many people have, after all 90+ percent is still a pretty good statistic.  But they don’t deliver 100% of Tracked 24 the next day and certainly don’t guarantee to.

I've still not got a refund from Royal Mail for losing the item, they replied to my case on 6th March with more requests for proof of value, I sent them the ebay payout reports and bank statements back and didn't hear anything since.
Phoned up this morning to find out whats going on to be be told my case has been closed as the item was delivered on the 6th April! I'm expecting a call back from the escalation team about what happens next...

If the item was delivered on the 6th April, then it's no longer lost, and the terms of RM24/48 don't allow claims for late delivery as the delivery time is an aim, not a guarantee.

Does the tracking show it as delivered as they say?

If it does you would need to get in touch with the buyer about payment.

I can't actually find the tracking number to check what it says, annoyingly ebay seem to hide or delete all the details as soon as a case is raised and I can never find them, but according to the RM customer service yesterday it has been delivered. they seemed to think I would still get a refund and am waiting for another call back after I submitted more info.
I think if it was declared lost after whatever time period they specified and I submitted a claim, it's lost,  and the claim is valid. I wouldn't even bother trying to contact the buyer to see if they have the item and ask for them to pay for it, thats just never going to happen

I had to call up again yesterday as nothing had happened, turns out RM were saying the hadn't received my submitted evidence so the claim couldn't be processed, despite me sending the evidence when I first submitted the claim, and again mid April so thats twice. I told them I have sent it, if it hasn't been received then we need to look into the possibility that there has been a technical problem, and then the CS rep did an search and said "oh look I've fund it, it's been submitted with the original case ref and not the second updated case ref we made up in April....."
so the CS rep agreed my evidence was satisfactory and agreed to reimburse me £150 for the lost item, but not without a 5 minute tale about how the item was lost but then ended up Northern Ireland before finally being deliver a month later, with some question posed to me asking if I would know anything about that I just had to laugh off with "what the hell do I know about it!?" and some irrelevant musings about how the buyer has the item and a refund. I was beginning to wonder a why he was telling me all this, why does it matter, he's already said I'll get compensation?
and then at the end he said the proof of posting I submitted didn't specify a cost so that couldn't be reimbursed, I said it was tracked 48 online it's about £3.30 ish can you not look it up? He said oh no sorry we would need to see proof of payment and confirmation of the correct amount, I can't look it up as the price changed recently.
So I just gave up and said send me the £150 it's not worth fighting over £3.30 odd I don't have the time

Undeliverable parcels - think address unreadable, address label damaged, address unknown, etc- go to NI where they are checked for a delivery address or the address of the sender. If one is found, it is delivered to the original recipient or the sender.
