Agreed. It's a terrible business model based on predatory and aggressive sales tactics. I've seen equivalent quotes average 40-50% lower for an arguably superior specification.
    -  10 x 400w LG + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial Panels + SE 3680 HD Wave Inverter + SE Optimizers. SE London.
    -  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

Feel free to DM me if I can help with any energy saving!
  • Hi - just been offered solar from Ocopus with no obvious charge as far as I can see.

What  would be the 'catch' or failing that , what would be the downside/negatives on accepting it?

Does anyone here have with experience of this? How did you find it and how are you getting on?

       Thanks

Hi, Just been reading this thread.
Did you go with octopus for the solar panels ?
Just that I've received a email offering me fully subsidised solar system.
I'm really interested and due to have a phone consultation in a couple of weeks time

Would be wise to share the quote you receive from Octopus on here so we can weigh in - Octopus are often a bit more expensive than the average end user realizes and they often quote for systems with batteries (good ones it must be said) when the end user's consumption could not justify the spend on a battery.

  • I have just applied and due to have a phone call with a advisor at the end of the month.
I have applied for a fully subsided solar set up.
But I'm sure there will be some catch to it.

A question about Octopus SEG.  I have moved my gas to Octopus and am hoping I no qualify for their SEG (any one know if you can get it if you are gas only?)

Given I have a battery system and PV and can export when I choose, am I likely to be better off with agile or 15p SEG?
    I think....

    Hi
After talking to octopus solar and doing the remote survey I have been offered the following system.
    5 x 440 watt  JA Solar panels
    5 x Enphase Microinverter
    Bird mesh
    All free of charge.

I need to have a survey done to confirm everything is ok and I can go ahead.

The original plan was to include a 5kw Enphase battery but from the photos I submitted they don't think they can fit it on my rear outside wall.
But if they surveyor says one will fit they will add it back onto the order.
I was surprised the battery had to go outside.

Does this system sound OK even without the battery?

    Thanks

Yes, grab it while you can. As previously shared and echoed, if you can fit any more panels on the roof (South/ East/ West facing), now is the time to do it.
