Am I being too impatient?

Hi all,
can’t work out if I’m being impatient or not.
can’t work out if I’m being impatient or not.
We put in an offer which was accepted on 2/11, vendors aren’t purchasing onwards.
Our buyers buyer have completed and living with friends since 16/01.
Where would you expect to be by now?
my solicitor sent enquiries on the 22/12, Which we still haven’t had responses to. (Their solicitor has said they were sent back 22/1, ours says he hasn’t had anything)
I have asked the EA if our sellers are stalling but they said no they’re chasing solicitors immediately after they’ve asked to. But it just seems weird to me that solicitors are just not responding!
My solicitor is also representing 1st in chain and estate agent 2nd in chain and no one else is chasing but still all proceeding - so am I just being really impatient?
In the meantime our solicitors are asking if we want to buy certain furniture from them through the estate agents so is it just their solicitor is a bit rubbish??

I'd expect to be close to exchanging contracts by now, but you do have to push solicitors to get a move on, which means pushing the vendors if it's the vendor's solicitor that is dragging their heels. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1

I'm on the other side of it as a seller (it's my deceased parents' house). I accepted an offer in October from a buyer who is not in a chain. The survey was done on 22 November, searches were back by 15 December. I know we had the festive period but we're no closer to having anything finalised and I'm frustrated at not knowing what's happening.
The buyer hasn't had a mortgage offer (it's a buy-to-let apparently). The last I heard was that the mortgage company asked a question relating to another property that the buyer owns, which was answered almost three weeks ago. I haven't had any further updates from the sales progressor for almost three weeks, and feel like I'm pestering when I ask!0 -
It’s so frustrating isn’t it!
I’ve been pushing every week.We had our survey done on the 22/11
the draft contracts were really slow and didn’t come through until 7/12.The really annoying thing to add is we have to pay a 3k ERC until 31/3 so if it takes much longer I’d rather it go through in April to save ourselves 3k!0 -

From my side as a seller, my solicitor sent draft contracts to the buyer's solicitor at the end of October, along with the relevant completed conveyancing forms, FENSA certs, boiler building regs etc. I've been ID checked in readiness for receiving sale funds, and I provided Grant of Probate docs, again, all at the end of October.
Hopefully the buyer will get the mortgage offer and the sale will be done and dusted soon, otherwise the house will be back on the market and the whole process will start again :-(
After the offer, the estate agent said that conveyancing is currently taking around 16 weeks, which would take us up to 14th February. I understand that that's just an average time, but I'm getting seller's jitters!!0 -

When we were selling the buyers solicitor would tell them they were waiting on us when we were waiting on them. We were in contact with the buyer and told them that they were the hold up. Eventually the buyers solicitors confirmed that they had, had the enquiry responses but they were too busy to deal with them.
Your buyer might be being told the wrong thing and the solicitor is just terrible.0 -
It was a while back, but my purchasers solicitor was apparently notorious for taking on more work than he could really handle. Fortunately the solicitor for the people who I was buying off knew the other solicitor and got him moving! My solicitor, to be fair was a bit useless but I just nagged her so she dealt with it to get me off her back - sometimes you have to be a squeaky wheel to get the oil!

Some solicitors take on too many cases and then don’t have the time to move them forward. Mine was one of them (they eventually got shut down). Chase them everyday, they’ll soon get sick of you and do something about it1
