Glad you like your new carpet uralmaid, I bought new sofas recently and although ok would choose something else if I could. Had agonised for months before as so much choice.
Know what you mean about missing your border terrier, this is my first dog, she is 10 months old and a family member already, so know we would all be devastated if anything happened to her.
My family would love me to do more baking but I am too tempted to eat too much of it myself, though maybe I will make them a bun loaf as a treat for them (and me).Beautiful sunny day here today.Money SPENDING Expert1 -

Ha! Choice?
I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but my experience of buying furniture (and white goods) is that you THINK there's an overwhelming and confusing choice. Until you actually start looking.
You start by ruling out anything which is too big or too small. You find that reduces your choice to 2, maybe 3. You look at these again and again: then you realise only one has an essential feature.
We ended up with yellow sofas, which would never be my choice. Everything else was wrong size, too low, too deep ...

I ended up getting expensive sofas that were pale blue and silver, think Regency. Very classy but on reflection not the best with a 10 month old puppy as we keep them mostly covered…..
Though I did buy several colourful William Morris prints for existing frames I had in that I love and didn’t cost much.
Sounds a lovely day with your daughter. Thats’s a shame she lives so far away, my eldest son lives 90 miles away as they moved back to her home town after University. I miss him, though they do come back to stay quite a bit, think if they have children that’s when I will feel it even more.Money SPENDING Expert2 -
You are so right about lack of choice.
It was when I had to replace my fridge/ freezer that I really regretted having integrated appliances. There was literally only one model that would fit the space/ door configuration and that was by buying online. It had to come from Redhill! I even had a friend stand in the space measuring it more than once to check that I had got the dimensions exactly right. Keeping my fingers crossed that this model is of the long lived variety..........Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
