I don't make many landline calls but would like the option in case I need to. I don't have unlimited mins on mobile so want to save them more for when I need them. I am with shell energy for landline and BB. Thanks.1

I'm on a Tesco Mobile SIM only contract paying £7.50pm with unlimited calls and texts (a lot cheaper than having a landline)1

I have a good deal with shell BB and landline. I need a LL for mum to ring me. I just want the option to make an odd call cheaply on the landline if there are any companies that still do it. I love GG and not wanting to switch0

Can you not send your mum a text or whatsapp message and she calls you, presuming she has UL minutes or a call plan of some description?0 -
The other option if none of the above works is to bite the bullet and get a £6 goodybag if 1GB of data suits when you feel the need to call. (there are cheaper sims however)

18185, 1899, topupnow and various other finera companies still actually work if you're after the odd call now and again from your landline, 2p/min and 4p connection fee if I recall correctly. You need to access via the 0808 number these days.
