Also both banks updated their apps on 22nd January.

It’s the inevitable adopt our new version and report the bugs until we get it right approach which is why I waited a week or so but not long enough it seems.

Is it worth contacting Lloyds and Halifax will I just end up on the end of the phone for an hour until I get told we don’t work Saturdays or you got through to the wrong department or ring back Monday or try live chat or contact xiaomi?

Great when you do what’s asked and then get left high and dry without access to your accounts due to whatever some tech expert has flung your way in the last five minutes.

What to do?

I take it you've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, which a lot of people seem to recommend when users have issues with apps.

All I can tell you is I am on the latest versions, released as you say on 22 Jan, both behaving perfectly well (on both a Pixel 8 and a Samsung Galaxy A71 - I'm currently transitioning).

You can, of course, access both Halifax and Lloyds using a browser, so you're not totally dependent on the apps.
  • Thanks. Yes it works on iPad and other banking apps work on the updated xiaomi just as before. Did uninstall but although I can download the apps I can’t proceed to enter log in details.

So seems it’s a xiaomi bug. I contacted Halifax and they are sending a report to their tech team (for action!?)  Logged in on phone on online banking OK

I think it is likely an android 14 issue. I also updated my phone to the latest Xiaomi os (hyper os) and can't use both apps. I raised the issue with Xiaomi and they looked into it and said Lloyds apps is not compatible with android 14 to raise it with them.

I have a second phone and have just left it at that but will be nice to see if someone with another manufacturer's phone on Android 14 is able to use any of the apps.

So my advice is, if you have a Xiaomi phone, don't update to their android 14 based os yet if you will need to use Halifax or Lloyds banking app.

Thank you for the heads up and for raising it with Xiaomi.

I will probably let the phone update when the time comes and wait for the problem with Lloyds/Halifax app to be sorted out.

Strangely the Halifax still works on my Xiaomi mobile, which updated to their new hyper OS software but not on my Xiaomi pad 6 which has updated to the same.

Nova launcher also crashes so I've had to swap to lynx launcher ( I hate the mui launcher)

Good news about the Halifax app but now I need to cross my fingers that the Xiaomi update doesn't torpedo Smart Launcher!

Samsung Galaxy A52s running Android 14 (One UI 6.0) here. Halifax, Lloyds (& BoS) apps all seem fine.

Same for my Samsung Galaxy S22 with the same firmware. The problem was most probably a xiaomi bug.
  • Unfortunately xiaomi say the problem is Lloyds/halifax and Lloyds/halifax say it’s xiaomi.

    Does anything ever change!?

Then again the Xiaomi Hyper OS Android 14 upgrade does only seem to have affected banking apps from the Lloyds banking group BUT only Android 14 on Xiaomi phones!?

I hope they ☎️ each other.

It will be a Lloyds/Halifax issue - they have had similar issues before.
