Depends, I guess people are used to the eBay way of auctions, in a real auction they don't have 10, 9, 8 , 7... etc seconds left for people to pounce, and I think eBay japan works the same way, in that a final bid is placed with a few seconds or so to go, it'll bump the time up, it does away with the age old snipering. most people don't like it because you can get a better bargain from it, I'm not sure why eBay japan does it differently, maybe so the seller benefits getting more.. who knows.

EDIT: I must add, the telebid way does suck, as with real auctions and the eBay japan one, you don't have to pay to have a go at bidding, you have a winner who pays the final amounts, that's it, anything else sucks, imo.

I'm not sure I really understand your question, so apologies if I answer the wrong question!

If you are the winning bidder then you pay the final winning price as well as all those 50pences you paid to bid each time.

mojam55, don't be confused by the price displayed. This auction was probably fixed price or 100% off. As such the purchase price is MUCH MUCH lower than the current bid price. It is Telebids way of encouraging more and more bids.

In the end Telebid and the winning bidder will both be happy having made considerable savings/profit at the expense of all the losing bidders. The concepts is very simple but very effective as it taps into peoples greed and in built desire for a "bargin". I have no problems with the concept of the site, you just have to be very fortunate to actually win an auction
I thin what he means is at 50p per bid and if it takes you 100 bids to win which is possible it will be expensive. I put 20 bids on one item each time it got to 1 second and did not win it. Its about luck!!
  • thanks for that is just luck u need on ur side to win anything in there.

It is probably not so much luck as how much money you are going to spend to try and win.

  • Hello
I am going to tell you my experience and you judge!

I first registered by telebid by incident, I was looking for nintendo wii prices, then I found this website which I checked the selling items, and it showed nintendo wii which normally around £249, has been won for arround £80.00 . I thought waaw, even if the bids cost me £100.00 I will be a winner.

Then I bought bids for £50.00 ... I won the Nintendo Wii for £87.00 by incident I thought in the begining and I thought I am really really lucky. The catch is ... when I paid they didn't say I can use my voucher and how to use with the sold product, I thought they will reduce the amount automatically, clearly not! Then I emailed them after I paid for the item, they told me I can pay towards it or any other winning item. So as my husband wants play station 3 and they were going at half price, I thought I will buy some more bidding, so I bought specifically £20.00 for the ps3, then another, then another and another, .....nearly £100 in bids and at all times I was to the last second with the bids, and in the end I noticed something....The bidbutler who was bidding with me in the last bid paid more than £1000 in bids ... I was waiting and waiting and monitoring his bids, he was bidding every other bid, as I spent £70.00 on that bid alone and I only used the bids in the last 10 seconds, I tried to use bidbutlers as well and what they done? they used all my bidbutlers against this one all in 10 seconds! or £2.00 difference, and I lost all the money I gave the bidbutlers to use within the range of £50 pounds.

I realised that NO ONE can spend £1000 for max of £320 item. In my opinion, There must be a third party involved in the site. I am so happy I found out sooner than later and I didn't get addicted trying to beat the unrealistic purchasers.

I think the trick is ... they let you win as soon as you register, then try to catch up!.
  • i lost £50 on this site and not convinced that this is quite legit, got to thinking how many stooges are out there bumping up the price with bids? theres no way of telling if any of the bidders are workers for telebid. after that thought i packed up my wallet and walked away
  • An absolute RIP OFF, they intice you in with low prices but the auctions never seem to end. I was bidding on a DS and the price was going up by 7p and 30 seconds everytime, but my account was robbed of 50p. MMMMMMMm curious to why this site is allowed to run when they are clearly ripping people off. I closed my account after about 10 minutes only to be told by these rogue traders that I wouldnt get any of my money back. I paid via Paypal and they wont do anything about it either. Just beware, that when you pay this rogue trader for a bidpack, you will use up your bidpack money and be left with nothing to show for it. The only winners are telebid and the 1 winner fo the auction, whoever that lucky person may be. I worked it out that although the DS in question sold for about £16.00, there were over 600 bids. 6000 bids x 50p is £300.00. So TELEBID make £300.00 quid for sitting in their offices and laughing at us.
  • I didnt really want to post this as my first post on here but after reading the telebid comments I thought I would as why is everyone saying it is a rip off, it's like every other 'gambling site' you take a chance and if you win then yippee and if you lose then tuff luck. I never win the jackpot on a fruit machine I play down the pub but I dont call them a rip off. I know on telebid it is quite hard to win stuff but the chance is there and it is up to you to take it. It would be nice to hear from genuine people who have won and see how much they spent on winning something.

Sorry for the moan but it had to be said.
