Hi Custardy,
What I understand from penny auction concept is, to get those £1 PS3s, or £5 Iphones, there has to be catch. At the end of the day, these sites are businesses not charities. Of course they are going to make money. When I registered with Madbid, I won 15 bids with my first 3 free bids and when they are all gone, I haven't played again. That's why I said bidding seems to be more reasonable then the others. I would have 18 bids if Madbid was following the same concept with biddingmart.
I also don't understand people calling this scam either. There is nothing hidden here (I can't say this for biddingmart as they are not launched yet) everything is clearly explained on Madbid and Swoopo. You may call it gambling or penny auction or anything else but I do not understand why it's called scam as clearly it states in their t&c's what have been discussed here. Counter going up, bidding cost etc. I have searched a lot and nobody complained about not receiiving their product once they won the auction. There are complains about very long delivery schedule (swoopo) but don't you think same day London collection makes it a little bit more secure?
CHR15, sorry but I did not get whether you are being sarcastic or not. But I can tell you that there are no connections between me and Madbid or Swoopo or Biddingmart.
Madbid, Swoopo, this new one biddingmart.
My God! If you go into these you deserve to be ripped off.0 -

As the site is very new there auctions are ending VERY QUICKLY, and i have won 3 prizes already, CASH, PS3, and an iPOD SHUFFLE!....GREAT!!!
I have bought a bundle of bids for £100 and it has cost me approximately £35 to win all 3 prizes!
I experienced a few problems with the site just after they launched, but i spoke to the guys who assured me they were fixing the problem, and they did.
Looking forward to receiving my goodies!:beer:
WOW!!! OH BOY OH BOY
and there was me thinking the site was a complete and utter scam, silly me. Your post has converted me and I will now toot along and hand over all my hard earned in the hopes of "winning" lots of high value prizes.
Thank you Happy Chappy
These sites are scams, first you spend money to win the bid, then you have to buy the item for the winning amount as you havent actually WON the item, you have just won the right to buy it at the winning price. Rip off.0 -

Yep. Sorry for becoming new user and posting in two threads lol. Normally, people do not bother registering when they could read the information without registering, except in some topics they know and want to share their experience. Found the other thread first and then register to share a voice and what I discovered after long time watching.
Anyway, do not be offended with newcomer OK ^_^? It is not very friendly as everyone would sometimes be a new user.0 -

Why with such an offended tone? I consider myself as a neutral voice and do not encourage anyone to play but to warn everyone of some things I discovered. I even do not mention a word of my user name for someone to refer?
I found that in this topic, all the old members seem very impatient and rude to listen to the newbies while the topic owner himself is a newbie lol.0 -
Heres my view on these "scam" sites.
If each "bid" costs 10p, I would say the actual value to the customer of that bid is about 3p. The company overall will make 70% of all the bids made.
So if you spend £100 you are getting £30 of value and giving £70 to the company on average. You may win items or never win anything, but overall the company nets 70% of the total amount of money people spend on the site.
Even if they set up a site called totalripoffauction.com, if it offers PS3s, Ipods and similar, people would still use it LOL.0 -
I also tried this. Actually, only the auctions with Bid Back are qualified for the bids to be won back to your accounts.Hi.
I have been examining some of the penny auctions sites for the last couple of weeks. And came across quite a different one called biddingmart. They are not launched yet, but what they are offering is quite different then others.
1. When you register now, you will get 10 free bid (they call it pre-launch) offer.
2. They are UK based (not like swoopo)
3. When you win, you get all the bids you used to win that auction back to your account!!! So actually you only pay for the actual auction price.
4. They also state 90% of their products are collectable from London same day the auction is finalised. So, you don't even need to wait for delivery.
Has anyone heard about these people?
Oppsss. I am not allowd to post link, just search for Biddingmart on google.
Thanks

It is not a scam. The proposition is real, though I suspect it could well be "managed", but it relies upon greed and is akin to gambling. Ebay less so but these acution sites need you to use a BId Butler type of thing as you have no chance otherwise.0
