Wheelie Bin advice sought

Wow, Vortigern.
Mind is empty for now. No doubt, when I do get a chip, it will also inform everyone: "Troublemaker Resident"0 -
Apologies have been given. My query had been logged by the Council as Streetcare, instead of with Veolia Bins! And was just closed out with no action.
The very helpful Veolia Manager just came round today to do an assessment. He is trying to obtain a 140 litre general waste bin for me, from the Council next door, if they can find a spare one.
And he is also adding me to Assisted Delivery. So they will pick the bin up from my front patio.
Thanks for all the input everyone.
It just shows... we must keep trying/persisting, in case we have ended up in a Systems Processing Loop, that has thrown us out.
(I have had this with British Gas, too! That one had to go to Energy Ombudsman before it received the correct resolution.)2 -
I thought everyone was on wheelie bins 50 years.0

Section62. Yes..... and by putting in that Complaint about the lack of reply, so that the Manager actually came around here.....
I was able to give him proof from the Consultant of my Medical Conditions, which I think has bypassed the "Having to go to the Doctor to get a Letter" issue. (He also told me they normally do have to send someone round to do an assessment, but I am hoping he has done that for me.) So I hope I have taken myself out of that process with possible extra delays.
bob2302: Historically here, we have always had the sacks because, the way our homes were designed and planned, we are not on a roadside. We are set back behind Council Green areas. And also many of us are at the back of the bungalow areas, accessed only by small footpaths.
There is a group of cottages in the village that has the same access issue. I am very envious, because they still do have the sack collections! (Waste van cannot get near them.)0 -
bob2302 said:I thought everyone was on wheelie bins 50 years. What?Relative has combination of wheelie bins for some recycling and black bags for general rubbish.I see some areas moving to larger communal bins in the street and doing away with those for flats. This appears to annoy drivers more than those disposing of rubbish. All the local supermarkets no longer have any recycling facilities which is annoying but they were often abused.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0

Final update on this everyone.
1 Veolia Manager has just popped around with the smaller 140 litre bin. FANTASTIC news! It is so much more manageable for me.
2 Also I have had the new side gate fitted, to allow access to the back for storage. The back garden is slightly lower than the front. So they have had to do a slight slope. And make it all match up.
They have done a magnificent job. I am thrilled to bits with it.
The way they coped with the change in angle from the front patio to the slope, is to take a square slab and cut it along the diagonal. Then you can have the two sections going off at slightly different angles.
3 The amusing thing is, I still have lots of the green sacks. So I put my general waste in the sack and then in the bin. Yesterday the Bin Collector, just looked inside the bin and took the green sack out an walked it across the big bit of Council Green Grass at the front!
Many thanks everyone for all your inputs. And a Happy Weekend to all.7 -
Sounds like a good outcome - thanks for coming back and letting us know how it went.
